Glass is ready for Thornton/By S. Bradley
With nine fighting majors this season, Tanner Glass leads the Vancouver Canucks in that department.
The Canucks as a team possess a modest 27 fighting majors.
But Glass still likes to be prepared when he takes on a team like the Bruins, who enter tonight tied for third with 56 fights in their 60 games. The Dartmouth product told The Vancouver Sun about his preparation for a game like tonight’s 10 p.m. EST start:
I go on hockeyfights.com and I try to know what everyone does. Just in case, you know. Not that I’m thinking I’m definitely going to fight this guy or that guy tonight, it’s just smart to know what a guy’s going to do.
After Thornton on the Bruins’ leader board, Adam McQuaid has 11 and Gregory Campbell eight. While Milan Lucic has just three fighting majors this season, Glass says the Bruins power forward’s fighting is still part of the scouting report. Maybe Lucic will want to make a bigger bang in his return to his hometown.
“Well, (Milan) Lucic first and foremost. He’s tough,” Glass told The Sun. “Shawn Thornton, also real tough, can take a punch, throws both. And then they’ve got that Adam McQuaid, rookie on defense. Tall kid, mostly rights, long reach. Those three.”
So Glass is ready for any extracurricular activity that takes place. This battle of division leaders should get heated, and the physical play might require some policing along the way.

I haven’t knocked down the Islanders Martin but I’ve knocked down a few Moulsons.
I believe Rypien is still out and has been for some time. So has Tootoo. I’m sure a lot of players are pretty happy about that. Especially Tootoo. That guy is going to put someone in a wheelchair yet. I hope they both get their issues resolved though.
Rick Rypien I believe is still on a “personal leave of absence” and Glass is not one of the better fighters in the league. The only fight where he won no doubt this season was him knocking down Matt Martin (NYI).
honestly. who would name their kid tanner? his parents were getting high while watching buttermaker.
That Bad News Tanner picture is truly worth a thousand words. Hilarious Karl.
*RR, not GR.
“Is Rick Rypien playing tonight? If I was a Wild fan sitting near the ‘nucks bench I would be more worried about him than Tanner Glassjaw.”
Fixed that for ya’ GR ;-D
Not someone that the B’s tough guys should worry about. Hasn’t had too many decisive victories this season:

He studied BJ Crombeen’s fighting style and still got tooled up Thursday night.

‘tanner’ is the perfect wannabe tough guy name. darth quaider shirt will be here today.

I think Chia’s done moving people, unfortunately. You definitely can’t have enough scoring wingers, but the B’s are second in the league in goals allowed (behind Vancouver, and the difference is literally .04 goals allowed per game), so I think they’re all set on D now.
Tanner Glass wishes he was George Parros… both Ivy alum, both enforcers, but Glass can’t even compete with the ‘stache. He can’t even compete with the Thornton fu-manchu. Might as well just wear a dress when he plays… what a duster.
Not sure if I agree with you about that shutdown D. It’s always nice, but those we have, at least one on each line. Different degrees of ability albeit, but that’s not our need. Agree with you about the forward though. Looch is good and all, but i would be nice to have two scorers who can score 30+ a season, especially if one is 40+
Should be a good indication off how good we really are tonight.i suspect we still need that shutdown d and another scoring forward .Love McQuaid he is perfect in his role and we need him every game could be a big game for lucic playing in his backyard
