Final score: Bruins 3, Vancouver 1

Lucic should help the PP/By S. Bradley
On the road in Vancouver against the No. 1 team overall and at home in the NHL, the Bruins were outplayed in the first period and risked leaving the Shane Hnidy signing as the biggest Boston hockey story of the day.
Luckily, Milan Lucic and David Krejci made sure to knock “The Sheriff” from the headlines.
Lucic’s goal on a rebound with 4:38 remaining after an amazing rush into the attack zone by Krejci was the game-winner in Boston’s 3-1 win over the Canucks.
Boston has now won the first four games of their six-game road stretch.
Lucic’s score in just his second NHL game ever played in his hometown was the highlight of his three-point, plus-3 night. He also assisted on goals by Nathan Horton and Patrice Bergeron goals.
Here’s a look at the rest of the box score:
•Tim Thomas put in a quiet 27-save night to earn the victory.
•”Darth Quaider” Adam McQuaid blocked six shots to lead the Bruins’ 23-block evening. McQuaid also threw five hits.
•The Canucks lost in regulation for just the second time in a game they scored first.
•Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference suffered a lower-body injury and did not play after the first period.
khl line scored the goals, but the 3rd line (pev-kelly-ryder) has me taking notice. how many faceoffs did kelly and pev win?
Two good teams going right at it, I was really pleased to see the Bruins prevail. This was agame the Canucks could have just as easily won.
Does anyone else feel like Oreskovich left his feet on the hit on Ference? I don’t think it was the dirtiest of hits – but I think he definitely jumped at Andy
Great Game boys!
Go B’s
Good effort from the b’s.Like to see rex and seguin switch lines though.
great game. B’s were a little sloppy but found a way to win. Canucks are missing their top two defenseman so it will a bit tougher if they meet for the Cup.
Tonight was a great example of how resilient B’s team is. Vancouver was running on all cylinders and were by no means having an “off night”. Timmy came up big a number of times, and there was phenomenal team defense. The third line is starting to find some chemistry, too…. in the meantime, Peverley and Kelly both proved they can win big faceoffs and kill penalties, so I’m more than satisfied on that front.
Nice to see Horton go get dirty at the front, too. It almost looked like he was about to skate away when Looch pretty much threw the puck at him, as if to say, “here ya go, now you HAVE to do something with it.”
Also, after at least two dives by Christian Ehrhoff and two non-calls against the Nucks, any Bruins fan HAD to be pumped to watch Krejci absolutely embarrass that defender en route to Lucic’s GWG (not to mention Looch himself was interfered with on the way). So beautiful. If that line continues to show up, the B’s are going to be very difficult to knock when they’re on their game.
If the Krejci line stays hot the Bruins will be a really good team down the stretch. Perhaps the most important player on the team is right now is Rask, he needs to play well enough to give Thomas the rest he needs. The last two games showed me that the Bruins are contenders this year.
