It has to be a good sign that Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference has stuck with the team through the final couple days of its lengthy road trip after getting injured last Saturday night in Vancouver.
If the injury was more serious, the team definitely would’ve sent him home early.
Today head coach Claude Julien sounded more positive about the veteran blueliner than general manager Peter Chiarelli sounded yesterday. Ference is out with a lower-body injury.
Julien said the team will know more about Ference’s injury when the team gets home Wednesday, when he will be re-evaluated.
“He’s feeling a lot better today than he did yesterday,” said the coach during his morning media briefing in Ottawa, where the Bruins will play the Senators tonight at 7 p.m. “That four-hour flight [from Edmonton to Ottawa] sometimes, it’s never an easy thing. … We’ll know more on Andrew’s situation when we get home.”
So for now, the Bruins will not recall any reinforcements from the Providence (AHL) farm club.
