Bruins’ Lucic says he let up when going after Lightning’s Moore

WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Tampa Bay Lightning, and specifically center Dominic Moore, might beg to differ, but Bruins forward Milan Lucic says he let up when he went at Moore with his stick high during a second-period scrum last night.
After today’s practice at Ristuccia Arena, Lucic said he had not heard from the league any supplemental discipline. In the ’09 playoffs, Lucic was suspended one game for a similar post-whistle high stick he threw at Montreal’s Maxim Lapierre.
“It was funny, that play, looking back and thinking back to it, I knew my stick was going to get a little high. And if you notice, there’s no follow through at all,” said Lucic, who received a roughing penalty but nothing more. “I backed up on it 100 percent, where I kind of just throw my chest out at him at the end because I knew it was getting into a dangerous area there. Things happen in this game, that you want to do whatever you can in this game not to hurt guys. Definitely, I might’ve got away with one by not getting punished more on the penalty call. But I did everything I could to keep from extending my arms to make it a full cross check.”
Lucic said the let-up was the biggest difference between this play and the one with Lapierre.
“It was completely different,” he said. “Where [in Montreal] I kind of went through. If you notice, I went up and then I kind of brought it back because I knew I was kind of entering into dangerous territory.”
Andrew, I’ve just taken a break from my wine cooler to share a thought with you. Perhaps your captain should show more class and discretion when losing 4-0. The hit on Pacioretty was disgusting, there is nothing more pathetic than a bad loser. I wonder what Orr must think of him? Not much I suspect. And one more chime…most Habs fans know infinitely more about hockey than the bullies in Beantown do. It’s about the hockey in Montreal, not the brawl. Or is this too immature of a thought?
hey Matt thanks, appreciate the reply. good website!
Rick-
Horton said Moore hit him away from the puck in the 1st pd. Then he thought Moore dove on that penalty in the 2nd.

I know I’m asking a stupid question but why was Horton so mad at Moore I missed something
I don’t know how Habs fans can find the time, between all the wine coolers and pillow fights, to litter Bruins blogs with their “thoughts.” If you want to bash a player/team, at least be creative; and try to separate your disgust for their superiority from that of their actual character. Sonny, the internet is an enormously large place. Go find a different corner of it to whine in.
In retrospect, I might have been a bit harsh. Its actually a lot of fun when Habs fans chime in with educated opinions and a maturity level beyond that of a five year old. Not all Habs fans are such weenies. Just this one.
Hey Sonny… who are you?
Lucic has overcome extreme physical adversity to develop into the power forward that he is. Not to mention he’s a wonderful presence in the Boston community. Laraque was a cancer to the league, and Looch has responsibility on this B’s team right now… so why is he going to willingly go for five and only take a chump like Moen with him? Oh, and if I remember correctly, Moen got his ass beat by Andrew Ference. In fact, the entire team of diving, cheap-shot-loving Habs got their asses beat.
Any bum can sit in their computer chair and put on a tough guy act. Lucic has 10000 times the integrity that you have, so if he knew some duster was calling him out, he wouldn’t even bother with your sorry ass.
Lucic is such a PANSY @SS WIMP!!!! He hits from behind all the time, throws cheap shots when guys can’t defend themselves and fights guys he knows he can beat. He backed down TWICE from Travis Moen in the last Montreal game and always backed down vs Laraque! What a WIMP!!! How can he even look in the mirror and think he’s a REAL man. He’s a big-nosed steroid freak!!!

It wasn’t a headshot. It was a cross-check to the shoulder.
So a headshot is ok, if you don’t follow through?
Why do the Moore brothers like to do the cheap shots, but never stand up for it after?
hope looch gets to borrow bergy’s ‘a’ on saturday.
joe, tampa has fox sports. but you’re right about following the money. nesn must always cost more than the other feed.
This is very close, but if he hasnt heard anything yet, my guess is he wont. Lets hope……
The B’s look like they are having fun!!
What Montreal taught us last year is that bringing a diving team to the NHL playoffs gets you pretty far, as long as you don’t play a team that knows how to check. TBL will see boston or philly in the playoffs and wither.
That diver Moore deserved it, but Lucic has to be careful with his stick, or he’ll be hearing from the league.
Are lightning games done by a Comcast Sports Net channel? NHL network is a Comcast production so they probably have free rights to re-broadcast from those channels. Maybe NESN charges.
that loser weekes on nhl network was beating the drum last night to get looch suspended.
i hate nhl network for employing the talentless and for allowing the bolts homers from diving hell to call last night’s game on national tv.
You’ve got to appreciate the accountability of our boy, Lucic.
