Bruins’ Recchi not ready to take away St. Louis’ Lady Byng

WILMINGTON, Mass. — Mark Recchi and Martin St. Louis have lots in common, including an impressive playing resume and a diminutive stature.
In the awards department, though, St. Louis has Recchi beat in the Lady Byng Trophy department. The Tampa Bay forward won the award for gentlemanly play last season. But last night, he might’ve cost himself some votes for this year’s award with a dangerous play against Recchi.
With the Boston forward driving the net, St. Louis stuck out his skate and an off-balanced Recchi hit into the post after the whistle. Some words were exchanged by Recchi, St. Louis and other players on the ice. Recchi wasn’t injured.
“That’s lucky. I’m lucky I didn’t go in harder. And I was able to catch myself a little bit,” said Recchi today after the Bruins practiced at Ristuccia Arena.
Recchi said he was a little surprised his gentlemanly former teammate would try such a maneuver, but “I had him beat to the net, so that’s the only way he could get me I guess.”
Despite the dangerous nature of the play, Recchi said there’ll be no bad blood between the future Hall-of-Fame players.
“We’ll be fine. That’s just the heat of the moment,” said Recchi. “He’s a good guy. We battled. It’s all part of it; he’s on the other side.”

no mention of the downie hacking. it was surreal. they have some color guy named ‘the chief’ and he ain’t johnny bucyk. he would not let go of the wwf ‘knee on knee’ and whined every time a bolt flew off a bruin. yeah, they kissed the big bad bruins asses since espo would hear about it.
bottom line, espo still holds a grudge against the b’s for trading him and his hatred has infected his current habs wannabe team.

Karl, what did they say about downie hacking at Campbell from behind the net? From now on I’m referring to Tampa Bay as Montreal South. BTW I heard that Matt Cooke got an “A” on his jersey……talk about a penguins hypocrisy promoting a garbage cheap shot artist.
rex got an unsportsmanlike against the diving espos right before the winter classic last year. i’m bad luck going to games.

qft atroxsilver. i’m disgusted with the nhl for allowing the bolts feed to air nationally. nhl center ice is one thing, but those john wayne gacy clowns knew they were on national tv. they whined anytime a bolt dove with no call and went so far as to blame the ref for the 2nd goal as if he kicked it looch.
I was watching the Lightning broadcast and they were talking about how disgusting the Thornton knee on knee hit was for about 15 minutes. When St. Louis pulled his dirty play they instantly dismissed it because Lady Byng winner Marty St. Louis would never ever do such a thing on purpose.
