As expected, the Bruins this afternoon recalled defenseman Matt Bartkowski from the Providence (AHL) farm club on an emergency basis.
No, the move wasn’t made just because the Pittsburgh-area native has to play against his hometown Pittsburgh Penguins, who will be at TD Garden to face the Bruins Saturday night. Fellow rookie Steven Kampfer famously suffered a mild concussion Thursday night and will be out of action at least a week.
Bartkowski’s two previous recalls came in time for him to face the Penguins. He did not record a point in either game but collected two penalty minutes.

NJ took the Pens to OT tonight. Lets hope the B’s keep it rolling even without Kamp and Bergy. The Pens are banged up…I expect Seguin to bring it as he should see additional minutes.
