BOSTON — The winning streak ended but the points streak continued.
Dustin Jeffrey’s second goal of the night just 1:52 into overtime lifted Pittsburgh to a 3-2 win at TD Garden and ended the Bruins’ seven-game winning streak.
Boston is now 7-0-1 in its last eight.
Dennis Seidenberg’s giveaway at the Boston blue line allowed Jeffrey to bust out of the neutral zone with speed and drive to the net, where he flipped in a forehand shot.
David Krejci salvaged the point for Boston with a goal that tied the score at 2 with just 32.5 left on the clock and Tim Thomas off the ice for the extra attacker. It was the Bruins’ first extra-attacker goal of the season.
Here’s a glance at the rest of the box score:
•With Tuukka Rask the only goaltender taking the morning skate, it was a bit of a surprise to see Tim Thomas get a second straight start. Thomas finished the night with 33 saves on 36 shots.
•Zdeno Chara snapped 19-game goal-less drought with his 11th of the season, which put the Bruins on the scoreboard first.
•Seidenberg finished the night with seven hits and four blocked shots, so the game-losing turnover ruined an overall solid performance by the veteran blueliner.

first of all, this team beat a handful of last place teams for their 7 game winning streak, aside from Vancouver and Tampa Bay. As usual, everyone got way too high on them. now everyone will get too low. the reality is they’re somewhere in between being good and being very good. nothing special.
Last night’s game went exactly as their last few, very little scoring, same old bruins. you don’t win 2-1 or 1-0 every night in the nhl anymore. Same old song and dance with too little offense in the julien system.
the second goal falls on kelly, yes boychuck should not have pinched there not having the third man high but where was kelly? getting sucked down to the top of the crease instead of staying high where he belongs to stop the rush. great pickup, this guy sucks. and chara continues to be the worst 2-1 defenseman of all time.
this team lacks the top end talent up front to win as it has for years. maybe they do have it but julien stifles offensive talent to such a degree that we don’t see it.
Mike K- Are you kidding me? The offense traps the the other team in their own end for what seems like days at a time throwing shot after shot at the net. If anything, its been much more exciting watching this group than wheeler half ass every shift.
On Pitt’s winning goal, Thomas looked like he was looking for his contact lens while Jeffery was bearing in on him…
Despite the team winning 7 in a row, I really don’t like how the offense has been since the new acquisitions. It seems like the team is back to the same old boring tight defensive game with no emotion or excitement. I knew the winning by the lucky late goal would end at some point soon.
