League-wide award for red-hot P-Bruins center Whitfield

It had been a slow go for Trent Whitfield since returning to action with the Bruins’ Providence (AHL) farm club after a lengthy injury absence, until things sped last week.
And for his efforts, the veteran center earned AHL Play of the Week honors.
Whitfield, who didn’t skate in a game this season until Jan. 7 while rehabilitating an offseason Achilles injury, totaled four goals and three assists in just two games last week. He had registered just two points in his previous 11 contests.
He recorded two goals and an assist against Charlotte, and then registered two goals and two assists against Bridgeport. Providence won both games.
For the season, Whitfield has 9-9-18 totals in 29 games.
Ed, you are a true fan. And a masochist to go to Providence games.
