Eller
Rookie Lars Eller couldn’t have picked a better time to record his first NHL two-goal game.
Eller scored twice in the first period, both at even strength, as Montreal got its revenge for last month’s fight-filled Bruins victory and pulled within three points of first place in the Northeast Division with a 4-1 home-ice victory tonight over Boston.
More important than the result, however, was that NESN reported Montreal forward Max Pacioretty was at the hospital conscious with the ability to move his arms and legs after he left the rink in a stretcher. Pacioretty was hit into the glass between the benches late in the second period by Zdeno Chara and was face down on the ice for quite some time while medical personnel attended to him.
Chara was issues a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct. Undoubtedly, the league will review the play.
Here’s a look at the rest of the ugly box score:
•Tuukka Rask’s first test against a legitimate NHL offense in quite some time was a disaster, as he allowed four goals on just 26 shots. At least one was a bad goal, and two others could’ve been stopped. It’ll be interesting to see when Rask, who had played better recently against second-division opponents, gets another start.
•To the surprise of most, Tyler Seguin was in the Bruins’ lineup instead of Daniel Paille. He skated just 8:55 but still managed to take a bad tripping penalty way out at the top of the right circle. He also threw a hit that nearly created a scoring chance at the side of the Montreal net, but he failed to secure the puck or get a shot off.
•The Bruins’ power play put up a goose egg for the seventh straight game. With an 0-for-4 tonight, they’re now 0-for-16 over that stretch. But at least they look prettier in failure with Tomas Kaberle quarterbacking their ineptitude.
•Travis Moen assisted on both of Eller’s goals for Montreal. Milan Lucic tallied Boston’s lone score.

Montreal fans may be classless, but at least the team that represents us has much class. I don’t think you can say the same about yours now can you? big bad sissy bullies!
one can’t have it all now can we?
Thanks for your update nifty, point was this isn’t phoenix, we know this game better than any here. I’m sick of the fight dopes who think we just want mma on ice. As far as history, I stand for the Canadian anthem and respect their country, and your history lesson can’t tell me that our great north neighbors have given us more than we have given them. W that being the case, respect our great nation!
The hit was dirty for sure. If you look online you can find several still shots or slow motion footage of Chara lifting his arm and using his forearm and fist to direct Pacioretty’s head into the stanchion. He’s looking up at the time, not down so he know exactly where he is on the ice, The argument that had it happened anywhere else on the ice nobody would be complaining so it wasn’t dirty is a false argument. If I push somebody off of a cliff and they die it’s murder. I wouldn’t be able to argue that had I pushed him somewhere else he would have just fallen over and it wouldn’t be a big deal. the fact is it didn’t happen somewhere else. It happened in a dangerous place and Chara knew it.
Bruins suck go get a real goalie and some skater that can skate lol u cannot fallow us
Even whit osbtruction on `Price u didnt pu the puck in the net and in dont remember how much PP mayb u won the game of BIG BOY but we proove we are a better team
There’s more players in the “N’ from one neighbourhood in Montreal than all of New England. Grow up Bigbadbs and take a history lesson while your at it.
ha.. i like the way you ended that bigbadbs.. that game was disgusting.. andi really can not stand claude julien’s system..and a second round pick for chris kelly is disgusting .. isnt he the exact same thing as trent whitfield? guy with little skill but busts his ass every game? i think seguin is a wuss a big wuss but i also feel that he has no time to even begin to get a feel for the puck . claude has completely ruined him this year.. i wonder if chiarelli’s boner for kaberle has gone down yet.. the guy is good but two draft picks and one of our top prospects good? i dont think so .. i think ryder has been a lot better lately and shows suprisig speed into the off zone a lot lately but then, instead of passing to open up ice he just trys to deke around two guys ,resulting in a turnover.. i thought that game was extremely frustrating last night and its obvious that fast offensive teams are the way to beat the bruins. loved the win streak but they pulled out some squeakers against bad teams and now we are seeing good teams able to put continuous pressure on the b’s. had to vent and still want to vent more but alas.. i am done
This is amazing. My first comment was not posted by the moderators and this morning I find insulting and racists comments about Montrealers. Nice job guys.
My advice: maybe you should not watch the next Big bad Bruins – Habs team in Montreal on tv. You’ll probably won’t like what you’ll see. You know we are classless.
And by the way, the guy destroyed by your beloved captain was born not to far from Boston…
Montreal fans are classless dopes. They think they own hockey and we know nothing about the game and just like fights. News flash, tons of new Englanders in Nhl, and this area pumps out great players.
As an aside, keep booing and sitting during our anthem, if not for us you’d be speaking German.
People are way overeacting to the hit. I don’t think people are overeacting to the way the Bruins played. They wont 7 in a row, 4 against terrible teams, (3 teams, all of whom are in the bottom 5 in the league). Congrats.
Habs fans are a joke.
If you don’t show respect to us, we won’t show respect to you guys. What the fcuk you want from MTL fans Joe, a standing ovation for compromising a 22 years old guy career?
If you want to boo the canadian national anthem next time, go ahead man, pay yourself a treat. I don’t give a sh!t.
And consider yourself lucky that Pacioretty is not seriously injured because according to what I saw on the ice tonight, you’ll need all your players to succeed in the playoffs.
You guys need to relax. It’s one game. Everyone’s all excited when they win 7 staight, but now people start complaining. I wasn’t happy to see Pacioretti get hurt like that, but sorry if I’m not crying about it. For once the Bruins aren’t on the receiving end of it. As for the Power Play, it’s never gonna be the same without Savard – but it is what it is. But seriously, RELAX! It’s a long season, and the regular season has very little correlation to post season success.
The power play went from everyone standing around to now everyone giving the puck to Kaberle and watching him try to create something for everyone. Kaberle needs to be a part of the power play, not be the power play. I’m dying for a line combination shuffle, although the Bergeron line has been great at times right now it’s not working.
That was some payback by Chara of the January 8th game on Max Pacioretty, a native New Englander. The NHL should issue a warning to all players reminding them to avoid trying to push Chara around. What a captain. What a poor loser and role model. What a disgrace.
Chris Kelly is not helping this team…How about a power play goal….I am so tired of watching Kaberle and whoever passing the puck back and forth…Julien went with Rask tonight…Genius
Thoughts about the game: Abysmal Failure. There were some things to get excited about, but they seemed like mirages in the desert in the scheme of things. I know the B’s have more than what they demonstrated tonight, and if there’s any hope for the Cup they’ll need to harness their true skill and ability as a team.
Terrible hit on Pacioretti, it was really tough to watch. I hope he ends up ok. He’s been a thorn in our side all season, but you never wish that on a guy.
And how classless were the Montreal fans the rest of the game? Cheering when Boychuk went down in pain after a slapper hit his feet; throwing a beer on Timmy Thomas down on the bench; booing the American anthem back in 2004. Passionate and douchy.
Home ice is such a big deal in this series I don’t even really care where the Bruins fall in the conference standings, just as long as we’re ahead of Montreal and get to play 4 games at the Garden.
Have to feel for Pachioretty. Hope the guy is ok, as big a doucher as he’s been this season. It’s awful to see someone hurt that badly, and I was relieved to hear there was no damage to the nervous system.
That being said, it was by no means a bad hit. If that happens anywhere else on the boards, it’s nothing. Chara clearly didn’t physically put the guy’s face into the glass, and I hate to say it… but Pachioretty probably shouldve put on the brakes as soon as he saw Chara was going to finish his check. It’s a fast game, and in the heat of the moment, things happen.
I’ll end my post on this note: Habs fans are some of the most passionate people I’ve ever seen. But they are often unruly and carry an unwarranted sense of aggression. Taunting the B’s physically, moaning at every hit a Bruin made as if there should have been a penalty, screaming “F*** You Chara!”… not only insufferable, but classless. When I went to MTL last spring, I met some really nice people at the game, and left the city with good feelings about it all. But the fans tonight were animals. Disgraceful.
Your team is Scum, worse then scum. I love how we dominate your neanderthals. You guys couldn’t buy a win on us, hahahahaha, you’re allllll GARBAGE, get back to the sewers you crawled out of!!!!!!!!
