Watch out Chara
It appears police in Quebec might start taking calls with complaints about Zdeno Chara’s hit on Montreal’s Max Pacioretty a little more seriously than we’d expect.
The Canadian Press has reported that Quebec’s director of criminal and penal prosecutions Louis Dionne has requested a criminal investigation in the Bruins captains’ actions.
CP writes:
Montreal police say they have received the complaint but will not be commenting.
Police say they were asked to investigate by the provincial department of Public Security, acting on a request from Louis Dionne, director of criminal and penal prosecutions
The move comes after the National Hockey League declined to suspend Chara.
Earlier Wednesday, Dionne’s office downplayed talk of a criminal investigation but hardened its tone hours later when the league announced no sanctions would be taken.
And so things get more interesting, or just hilarious depending on how you look at it.
I still want to know if Quebec has a jail cell big enough to contain Chara or if this would be a “Mighty Joe Young” situation, where they’d hold him in a bamboo pen with guards stationed all around and maybe chain him to rocks on the ground.

Every time I think things can’t get more absurd, they do. Montreal seriously needs to grow up. Look. I didn’t like the hit on Pacioretty, either. While I don’t believe it was a malicious/dirty hit, it was probably worthy of a 1-3 game suspension simply because Chara should’ve known that play had the potential to be dangerous. But the riotous reaction people have had in Montreal? The obnoxious and downright immature trolling of this blog? The cheering on of a player (McQuaid) being hit with the puck? And now a police investigation? I feel bad for the many solid citizens and various sane people in Quebec, because something like this just makes y’all look stupid.
This is the same fanbase that burns cars, turns over cars, smashes windows, loots and causes harm to others when they win ONE round in the playoffs.
Don’t drag Canada in this. This is a Montreal and Montreal only thing. Pathetic.
Is this YouTube? I can’t be sure with all the ignorance, misspellings and emoticons…
good thing theres is universal healthcare in canada….know you can waste the taxpayers money twice…….
players dont want to seriously hurt the other players…did he want to knock him on his ass ? yes Did he want to put him on queer street ?YES Did he want to finish his season and make himself a target for all of Quebec ?No..Did he say ok im gonna line him with the stantion?NO look at the replay in the neutral zone and the right call was made INTERFERENCE Major penalty…..no stantion two minute minor penalty….Dennis Booby call the cops kids r selling girl scout cookies without a permit…and dennis dont watch hockey
Who cares what Tanner Glass thinks?
The discipline of a player in the NHL is not an open forum. The NHL should not wait for anyone to weigh in or care about what any other player, writer, tv personality, owner, etc. say. None of that matters. This isn’t like voting for an All Star team.
Regarding the actual blog post above, I would be pissed if I was a Montreal and Canadian citizen if I knew my government was wasting time and resources on this. This looks ridiculous and reflects poorly on Montreal and Canada
Yesterday the Habs fans said Tony Maz was the authority to turn to in order to determine intent. Today its Tanner Glass.
Well I have on record Bozo the Clown and Peter Griffin stating that clearly Chara did not intend to hurt MP.
Seriously, everyone is entitled to an opinion on this, even Habs fans even though we strongly disagree on here. But just because one person in the media, NHL, or a middle eastern dictator levies their personal opinion on the matter does not make it a fact one way or another!!!!!!!
A criminal investigation for a hit in a violent game with an unfortunate injury? This from a place that riots and vandalized its own after they win a hockey playoff series? People Who Live In Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones.
MCK
Thats true, everyone as his opinion,Laperriere said its impossible that Charaa kew what he was doing But Tanner Glass said we clearly see he did it to hurt and it was hes intented,Mayb it is a accident….
But the league should wait for Max and other player important person to give their opinion about this…
Even if Cambell didnt do nothing his friends took a decision for him..
John
See, thats where you are wrong. Whether he is suspended or not should not, and apparently thankfully doesnt, depend on the injury suffered. That would be a terrible rule.
The punishment is for conduct, not the result of the conduct
Leave it up to the Quebecuois to milk the system for all they can get. They are a drain on Canada and bully their smaller neighbours to no end.
This is too funny.
The police launching an investigation had to have been a political move. Imagine the mess that would be made if a department of public service ignored the zealous cries of its people? There would be unrest, controversy, division, yadda yadda yadda. It’s sad that this situation has come to this.
As a Bruins fan, born and raised five miles from Boston, I can honestly say that I have no bad feelings about any of the Montreal players. None. But the way in which the Montreal fans have villified not just Chara, but the entire Bruins fan base, is completely unfair. Nothing good has come out of this situation thus far… it needs to just be left alone, with both sides agreeing to disagree.
A main know lawyer is sure Zdeno wasnt premidite that hit but can clearly prooved Zdeno had this intention,he knew where he was,he knew its was MP and that he didnt had the puck + 14sec left!Ull see i hope at least Zdeno admit he was looking for that kinf of thing whit MP for a month.
.
Nice article
Chara hit a player who did not have the puck, a 2 minuted minor interferance penalty, but when an injury occurs when you are breaking a rule, a suspension must follow,a two game suspension and there would be 5% of the trouble that has erupted, but governments all over will get involed if the NHL doesn’t take care of these things.
Its Canada criminal court so hate on leaf and sens,
One of the biggest nhl commandite Air Canada give pressur so hate on leaf and sens also
Tanner Glass said it was one of the more dirty hit he sawe and didnt know the story and circonstance between these2,Its not a hit he just clearly push him and like Max said/remember aim his head whit is arm glove.
Disgusting and Julien should have a big Fee to coach like this and talk like this
..

This pic clearly show everything and this is whhy ur forum, bruins and NHL tried to hide that pic
This is just absolute lunacy.
Making public safety workers waste their time instead of pursuing actual criminals is a joke. This looks so bad for both the province of Quebec, the city of Montreal, and most of all, the fans.
I cant stress enough how awful every Bruins fan feels about the severity of the injury to Paccioretty, however to bombard police departments with phone calls like this is makes the entire situation comical, as Bryan said above.
Max is hurt, yes, but making outlandish requests to pursue Chara is just silly at this point. And to see that this has actually reached public safety level is just absurd.
@ryanburns88
Haha White is legitim defense since PK been agress, wtv
As for Zdeno he wont be forgive until he admit is intention and stop playing innocent card!
As for Ciminal Court yes its serious and its a Canada Criminal Court that main know lawyer is sure Zdeno wasnt premidite that hit but he can clearly prooved Zdeno had this intention,he knew where he was,he knew its was MP and that he didnt had the puck + 14sec left!Ull see i hope at least Zdeno admit he was looking for that kinf of thing whit MP for a month.
HAHAHAHAHAH. Insane. Leave the one ine policing to the players… and when necessary the league. I am not a fan of criminal charges in a game at all. Yes, that includes the Bertuzzi and McSorley incidents as well. Correct, they were horrible assaults that would garnish civil and criminal charges on the other side of the glass…but its in the game and in the league. Players like those 2 I mentioned should be banned from the league and fined, but not criminially prosecuted. Fighting is legal in the game, but in the stands its assault. Brutal checks and unfortunate incidencts like the check on MP are part of the game like it or not, and should be dealt with by the authority that rules THE GAME.
BTW…Can we call the Montreal police on Ryan White… pretty sure he jumped JB while he was down on the ice… That could be considered an assault. But I guess Montreal fans wont agree with that because of the laundry.
This police investigation is really taking a serious and tragic story to a comedic level and its a shame to waste publice resources and time on such tom foolery…
Confirmed that Montreal Police will launch an investigation. I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that a fan culture that becomes irate and boos at every offside call would go off the deep end.
Just flat out bizarre.
Wow..absolutely pathetic. Shame Patch is injured, but I didn’t see BPD looking for a criminal investigation after Cooke nearly ended Savvy’s career.
It’s not a segment of Quebec that has lost their minds, it’s the NHL that never had any mind. The problem is not Chara, it’s the league that tolerates such hits…many many times…
This is sad on many levels, Max is in the hospital and may never be the same, Chara is being villianized and his entire body of work is being judged by one hit, and a segment of Quebec has lost their minds.
The NHL is a farce. It should enforce the rules has they are made and it should punish the players that are violent. You don’t see such hits at the Olympics where the hockey show is much better. Lets hope that somebody will someday act responsibly and make sure that the better players are kept on the ice and not on the injured list.
With the shape he has, Chara knew he could hurt the Canadiens’ player badly so the NHL should punish him for that. It’s sad that players like Crosby and Pacioretty can’t play hockey because the NHL doesn’t take measures like they should. People in Boston should agree with such a view unless they support violence…
Quebec is our weird uncle. It’s a dastink society.
This is what I envision…

Its called evolution and yes planet earth is a sphere.
Seems with better gun control than the US, they have the kind’ve time and resources to waste on this. On a serious note, this is very sad and I don’t feel like any other province in Canada would be wasting this much energy on this story.
