BOSTON — Bruins defenseman Steven Kampfer did not skate today and admitted he suffered a slight setback in his attempt to return from a concussion.
Kampfer said that he felt fine riding the bike yesterday but then suffered headaches last night. The hope is that Kampfer will feel fine enough to resume physical activity — namely riding the bike — Friday. He will not travel with the team to Long Island for Friday night’s game.
“It’s kind of a couple steps, forward a couple steps back,” said Kampfer after his team’s morning skate in preparation for tonight’s game against Buffalo. “We’re back essentially to square one. We’re going to see how I feel tomorrow.”
Kampfer, who suffered two previous concussions in his life, said that his current situation is most frustrating because he keeps getting the headaches later in the day rather than during the physical activity. Taking today off was “precautionary” he said.
“You ride the bike and you’re not getting your heart rate up that high, and then you get the headaches,” he said.

You’re 100% right, GM’s of course have to look at concussion history, but I would think that this is only prominent in 4+ year contracts.
Kampfer has had head trauma before as we all know. I think the B’s and Steve have to look at this as his last concussion. His next one should be it. If I’m a GM I would stay clear of players with head injuries. I know Steve’s is legit but I also have to question some of the others. Do you believe that every one is legit? I do not. Concussions are the new ‘ back’ injury. There I said it. Pile on. The question is would any one in a position of prominence say that? No. Is it whispered? Yes. Ask Torts. Off the record of course.
