I have many favorite lines from Montreal owner Geoff Molson’s open letter to the Canadiens fans.
This one is my favorite:
We understand and appreciate hockey being a physical sport, but we do not accept any violent behavior that will put the players’ health and safety at risk.
Now keep that line in your mind as you watch Max Pacioretty in this video:
Now, obviously, just because Pacioretty threw such a reckless hit doesn’t mean he deserved what happened to him on the hit from Bruins captain Zdeno Chara Tuesday night. But it goes to show that it’s possible for a Montreal player to occasionally execute a “violent behavior that will put the players’ health and safety at risk.”
Chara has apologized and said he was going to reach out to Pacioretty. Yet the response in Quebec is still a desire to have Chara arrested and the owner criticizes the NHL ruling rather than calms the fans. What a fiasco.
Honestly, it’s time for all parties involved should move on.
