Bartkowski/By S. Bradley
Reduced to spectator status for the second half of the Bruins’ 4-2 loss on Long Island last night, defenseman Matt Bartkowski will now get a chance to log some decent ice time over the rest of this weekend.
The rookie who skated just 4:42 against the Islanders was assigned to the Providence (AHL) farm club this afternoon. He should be available to face Portland tonight and Bridgeport tomorrow.
Bartkowski’s most recent emergency recall to Boston consisted of four games, no points and an even plus/minus rating.
The nearing return of injured defenseman Andrew Ference could relegate Bartkowski to playing for the P-Bruins for a while, or the former Ohio State standout could return should Ference not be ready to play Tuesday in Columbus.

If anyone watched Coaches Corner they would have seen a great clip showing quite a few stanchion hits. Some were close to being as bad as Pach’s. They should have had Don explain everything the next day. He had it right on including changing the angle of the stantion. Love him or hate him that was one of the best coach’s corners I’ve seen in a while.
Yes, Hnidy is still a couple weeks from being eligible because he’s on LTIR.
I recall multiple sources saying that Hnidy was farther off than Ferrence or Kampfer. I would doubt that we see him playing this regular season.
Matt – How close is Hnidy ? They have to play him at least a little before playoffs just in case they actually need him…
