In 12 games, Tomas Kaberle has posted just three assist and 10 shots on net for the Bruins.
The Bruins’ power play with him on the back end is just 2-for-32 (6.25 success rate).
So I ask you:
Given what you've seen so far, would you do the Kaberle trade again today?

I wasn’t too keen on Kaberle from the beginning. His stats have been on the downside year in and year out. BUT….the true test will be come playoff time, a place that he is not accustomed to being in. I dont know why everything is about him since the deadline, the B’s also traded for Chris Kelly. WTF was that about?!?
We’ll also have to see if they re-sign him, too. People seem to be thinking the $4-$5 range, which I think is worth the price for a #2 D-man for the next 4 years.
Gotta think in terms of value…not just “is this guy the savior”.
Chiarelli obviously thinks (or thought) the Bruins could win the Stanley Cup. I don’t (and didn’t). Hence I think the Bruins overpaid for Kaberle. Not only will they not win the cup, they are not a lock to resign Kaberle.
Based on this question alone I would take this trade back,as ridiculous as it may sound we could’ve gotten Wideman back for less our leading defensive point getter last year in the playoffs.Speaking of which when are the B s going to get some momentum going in ti the playoffs aka Canucks Sharks Caps………
Kaberle is only one piece of a puzzle that is still missing pieces. When Ference is healthy we will get a better look at the D. Kaberle has always been pass first. I don’t know why we are analyzing his shooting. Get some consistent scoring out of the forwards and Kaberle’s assist #’s will look good.
Its not Kaberle’s fault in my eyes. Its the never ending belief that all the team was missing was a PMD. Kaberle is just playing his game, and the shots are down because the guy next to him on the PP has a 104mph slapshot. What they needed most was a healthy Marc Savard of 2yrs ago, since he’s out and they don’t trust Seguin’s ability they needed to get help scoring up front.
I was against it then, and I am against the trade now. Kaberle was talked up like he was going to be the power play savior, and it was if he alone would suddenly transform our defense into an offensive weapon.
We gave up too much for someone who will simply never live up to the expectations Bruins fans built up for him, due to Chiarelli acting like he was the only offensive-defensman in the league.
Kaberle can’t be judged solely on points production, but is it not the main reason he was brought in – to jump start the power play? It hasn’t happened. While the break outs look better from the defensive end, it hasn’t translated into wins.
I’d take it back in a heartbeat.
I agree with Nifty’s point. Kaberle’s value to the Bruins will be best measured after the playoffs. His play should be judged on how his play impacts the Bruins play in their own end and how they break out. Please don’t use a simple analysis based on points totals.
I second that!
I’ll judge every Bruin after the playoffs and not just the new ones.
