WILMINGTON, Mass. — Bruins defenseman Shane Hnidy said he still has one more doctor’s visit tomorrow until he can get cleared to be removed from LTIR and be available for game action.
Hnidy continued to practice with the team today at Ristuccia Arena and showed no limitations in drills. Yesterday, head coach Claude Julien tried to temper everyone’s enthusiasm for the return of “The Sheriff” by pointing out Hnidy was signed to provide depth and not take anyone’s job.
Today Julien explained though that if Hnidy’s going to be of use to the team, he’s going to have to play some games.
Hnidy says he’s ready for anything.
“I knew what the situation was coming in,” said the veteran, who signed as a free agent last month and hasn’t played all season. “If it works out and I’m needed, I’m going to go out there and play and do my best. But if not, I’m going to continue down this path and make sure I prepare the best I can.”
