It was a breakout week for Seguin, who built on the momentum of his shootout-winning goal in Columbus with a regulation goal in Nashville. And then in Toronto, he was denied on his breakaway by goaltender James Reimer, but was extremely active around the net and even threw two hits.
It’s been a roller-coaster first NHL season for Seguin, who started off with a hot hand and since has been juggled from line to line, inserted and removed from the line-up, and shifted from wing to center and back again. If ever there was a time for him to find his game and begin to compete consistently at the NHL level, it’s now with the Bruins in a March swoon and the playoffs just a couple weeks away.
If Seguin sees an increase in ice time as reward for his recent performances, he has to be sure to take advantage of those minutes. Duplicating his Toronto performance — which was the only positive one by a Bruins player in that loss — and other showings of last week would be a solid start.
Bruin of the Week is presented by Sully’s Brand.

We are doom looks like we get montreal in the first round and after Chara’s hit on pachority all those bleeding hearts in montreal will scream blue murder if a boston player farts near a montreal player.the refs are tottaly bias when playing against montreal i think the leagure should invistagete it don’t believe? go back and look at any game and tell me montreal didn’t get breaks from the ref makes me wanna puck
You’re right on about hitting a low point. Maybe that’s the plan. Hit rock bottom and then climb out and get on a roll. I know these are the dog days but I worry that some confidence may be forever lost. Have these guys quit on Claude? I hope not. If you have character like they are supposed to have then you would think they could win despite him. The team is built to play a certain style so I think you can blame the guy above as well.
I think that as he starts to see rewards for his attempts at physical play – like the turnover he created behind the Leafs net right before being called off the ice (?) – will encourage him to look for more.
What I’m starting to fear is that Tyler might be all we have to root for from here on out. Team is a mess, and I’m 100% behind PC to pull the same stunt that NJ did a few years back right before the playoffs started. So disappointing that the team is hitting its low point now – right when they are supposed to be unified. Ugh.
I can’t recall if Joe and his 7pts in 55 games received the heat that Tyler has. He put up 41 his second year. I do remember Joe saying he wouldn’t mind if he was returned to Jr. That’s when my red flags went crazy.
Let’s hope he keeps riding this. It looks like he’s starting to play with more and more confidence – it should start to translate into more point production.
