Chicago’s Scott says he’ll ‘kick the shit out of’ Bruins’ Thornton
Well, it looks like the war of words between Bruins forwad Shawn Thornton and the Chicago Blackhawks is going to last a little longer than first expected.
Thornton was upset that after he was sliced above the right eye by forward Fernando Pisani’s skate blade Tuesday night, someone on the Blackhawks bench chirped at him as he made his way toward the Bruins’ bench. Today Thornton reiterated that he still doesn’t know who it was.
Blackhawks enforcer John Scott, who wasn’t in the lineup Tuesday, was asked by the media in Chicago about comments Thornton made on 98.5 The Sports Hub today about having a long memory when it comes to the incident.
Scott, via the Chicago Tribune, said:
“He said that? That’s fine. He can say what he wants. He’s going after some of our littlest guys on our team to start a fight. He’s trying to challenge (Fernando) Pisani to a fight. What’s that say about him?
“He’s Mr. Tough Guy and he’s trying to challenge Pisani. If I’m in the lineup, he’s more than welcome to come chirp at me. I’ll kick the (bleep) out of him.”
The Hawks had been upset earlier in that game that Thornton collided with defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson and then Thornton and Pisani did have a brief exchange in a scrum.
The Bruins and Hawks are not scheduled to meet again this season, unless it’s in the Stanley Cup final. Scott would likely be a scratch with the stakes that high, as he has played in just 40 games on Chicago’s back end this season. Scott is signed through the end of next year by the Hawks.
Thornton received around 40 stitches for the gash and as of today is not medically cleared to play. After the game Tuesday, he said he would take care of whoever chirped when he finds out the player’s identity and crosses paths with him again.

I have never seen Thorton get his ass kicked and I don’t think this guy will supply him with a beat down. Thornton still wanted to fight the Blackhawks bench after he had blood pouring from his head. Thornton could take this guys, hands down.
I feel sorry for Jonathan Toews. The closest thing to Steve Yzerman in my eyes. A great leader, a hard worker, and a captain/representative of the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
Now these comments are going to be shoved right in the face of him and Chicago. There are certain players and teams in the NHL who like to uphold a respectable repuatation, and since John Scott has no reputation to lose, he has pretty much just embaraased all of his teammates.
Tough break for the Blackhawks, but that’s what they get for starting this whole mess in the first place. Thornton could have said a lot worse, but all he said was that “he would handle it in his own way.” This was his attempt to draw attention away from the situation, and I thought he did a good job in trying. Obviously John Scott thought otherwise.
Everybody has different methods of getting noticed, some classier than others.
Its easy to talk tough when you are a healthy scratch, lol
this jobber is listed as Height: 6-8
Weight: 258. And he’s chirping about Thornton going after smaller guys?
Adam, he wasn’t referring to any plans of going after Pisani, he was referring to an incident that already happened earlier in the game when he and Pisani scuffled.
Scott is a complete moron for saying that as Thornton never said he was going after Pisani. Scott is lucky he is still in the league. The only thing he can do good is fight, that’s about it. If the Bruins and Blackhawks play again next season Scott may be another scratch or may be in the minors. Thornton has no beef with Scott so there’s no point fighting him anyways.
And I’m not sure what Scott was referring to when he said Thornton was being cheap that game. Did I miss something? Was thornton throwing body checks and Scott was offended (like Montreal)?
Scott during the Bruins game…..”Hey looks like someone is bleeding out there! Tough to tell from all the way up here in the nosebleeds though.”
I’m sure his teammates appreciate this clown referring to any of them as the “littlest guys”.
“Blackhawks enforcer John Scott, who wasn’t in the lineup Tuesday…”
I’m sorry, was there more to the story after that? I stopped reading when I saw that this was a scrub squawking.
Thornton is 1 inch taller and 12 pounds heavier…Pisani is not “a little guy”. Unless Scott was referring to knowledge one can only learn in the showers…in which case he should watch out for Pisani to come after him not Thornton.
Scott thinks hes tough lawl, have him get in the ring with chara, actually i bet boris can even beat him along with boychuk/mcquaider. Scotts a joke.
hawks are classless and i hope they choke away the 8th seed out west.
Scott = douchebag
Lol… Thornton fought Derek Boogaard earlier this year and pretty much won. I dont think he’s afraid of a 6’8″ goon who looks like a serial rapist.
Actually, Mr. Scott, Thornton has fought folks much bigger and taller than himself, and doesn’t shy from anyone. If those “small” guys can’t defend themselves, they shouldn’t be talking sh*t to Thornton in the first place. The referee should have let Thornton beat a couple guys on the bench, teach them a lesson.
