Final score: Toronto 4, Bruins 3 (shootout)
BOSTON — Luckily for the Bruins, the odds are Tuukka Rask slim that Toronto will be in the postseason mix.
Because the Maple Leafs have become a difficult team for Boston to even pull out a point against.
For the third straight time, the Bruins couldn’t solve the Leafs, as they dropped a 4-3 shootout decision at TD Garden tonight.
Nazem Kadri scored the lone shootout goal, while Tyler Seguin, Michael Ryder and Rich Peverley all failed to beat goaltender James Reimer, who finished regulation and overtime with 35 saves.
With just one point, the Bruins failed to wrap up the Northeast Division title, which meant the Boston organization had to put back the celebratory hats.
Here’s a glance at the box score:
•Andrew Ference scored his third goal of the year for the Bruins, while Brad Marchand and David Krejci added Boston’s other scores.
•In net, Tim Thomas was victimized by a couple bad bounces and finished with 28 saves on the night.
•Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg was minus-2 but blocked a game-high six shots.

Yes, his 4on3 choices were bad. How can you not have Krejci out there?
Nonetheless, meaningless game. He’s trying things out. No reason to get on him for it.

What was Claude thinking, using Ryder in the shootout?
I say give the puck to Campbell! His shortie against the Canadiens was a thing of beauty.
They should’ve had Kaberle-Chara-Seguin-Marchand out on the ice during the 4on3 pp in ot; get some speed on the ice.
CJ should’ve had Chara-Kaberle-Marchand-Seguin on the 4on3 pp, get some speed out there.
Not one to question C.J but did he have the right personell out there on the 4on3 p.p?
That’s the worst game Bergeron played all year, tough to even say it because he is such a force on this team but he was putrid last night, along with Kaberle and Kampfer….UGLY – thank god it meant nothing
I’m guessing that maybe Timmy requested the start to make up for his last start against them? Don’t really know, but yeah, I thouht Tuukka would have gotten this start.
On a side note, Matt, love the new add! Are those things built for comfort or built for speed? Kinda makes me wanna be a motorboatin’ S.O.B. =D
Terry I agree. That game was horribly and weirdly officiated. It was bad on both teams too.
I think the league would do well to hold refs more accountable for dumb calls. I know the game is fast and sometimes a refs angle makes them see something that wasn’t or miss something, but the penalty shot was a really dumb call and no vision blocked there.
Hooking and holding penalties have become a joke, no. Atter who the refs are or which teams are playing.
I have to say that something is very suspect with the NHL referes of late. They are making calls that do not exist in the rule book. This in turn throws everyone off their game. Hooking calls and that penalty shot in overtime should get the two refs a front row meeting with the leauge this morning before the playoffs start. It seemd as if the refs were on the Leafs payroll for the night.
rask was perfect against the buds this year. dumb.
Well said nifty. and 1 of those would have been an own goal… lol.
Still don’t know why Thomas started this game though. Seems like Rask should get every Leafs start. He plays well against them. Why risk Timmy’s Vezina stats against a non playoff team when he can be getting some rest…
If it was soccer we would have lost 2-nil.
