Reports said that as many as 20 NHL teams, including the Bruins, were interested in signing Merrimack College free agent Stephane Da Costa.
Today the 21-year-old made his decision.
Da Costa decided to go to a Northeast Division club, but not stay in the Bay State. The forward, who put up 90 points in 67 collegiate games over two seasons, signed a two-year entry-level deal with Ottawa.
In addition to giving Da Costa the money he wanted, the Senators provide him the clearest, quickest path to the NHL. They’ve been offensively challenged all season and should have plenty of roster openings next season after picking quite high in this June’s NHL draft.
