Camper coming to Bruins
Various reports say the Bruins have signed collegiate free agent Carter Camper out of Miami University.
The Bruins have not officially announced the move that was first reported by prospects expert Kirk Luedeke. It has since been confirmed by Providence Journal report Mark Divver, who reported that Camper will practice with the Providence (AHL) farm club tomorrow.
Camper was a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award this season. The 5-foot-9, 173-pound forward totaled 57 points (19 goals) in 39 games this season and 183 points in his four seasons with the RedHawks. Obviously, he’ll add some scoring hands to the organization but isn’t much of a bruiser considering his size.

I agree with Bojangles on PC’s efforts to add skill. This works out well for us cause Julien is all about work ethic. He just said in his most recent interview that if you don’t have the work ethic, the talent is pretty much useless. Marchand is full proof of that. He tries so hard and his talent finally came through this year. And look at Seguin, he is blocking shots and playing with two penalty killers in Peverly and Kelly. I like this tandem of GM and Coach. Julien is going to turn all of these skill players into dedicated, hard working skilled players, and those are the best.
I think PC has made an effort to add skill. Look at some of his moves… Horton, Peverley, Kaberle, Kampfer, Bartkowski, Warofsky, Spooner, Colborne (now gone), Sauve, Knight (finisher) and now this kid. It’d be nice if he could pick up a skilled UFA or RFA or two, but the cupboards are pretty bare this off-season. We’ll see. But at least he’s taking the chances to find a Bobby Butler, Grabner or the like. No doubt this will be priority 1 in the off-season.
I tend to WANT to agree with you, Dr. Peter, but I think that with CJ’s system, the B’s wont be able to fully benefit from skilled guys up front. The forwards are relied on pretty heavily in terms of defense with the defensemen throwing the puck around behind the net. I HATE the D2D pass.
Hey Matt,
Think you could get an update together on your B’s prospect rankings removing the guys on the big club and adding in Spooner, Knight, Kubodin, etc? Curious about your slants on these few guys.
Thanks!
The B’s could benefit from some more skilled forwards–can’t all be big grinders, right? They should definitely give Hamill more of a chance, look at how Marchand turned out (yes, I know he is brash, but Zach is more creative!)
Speed?
