Pucks and sticks on ice with Bruins for practice
WILMINGTON, Mass. — It looks like those that wanted Bruins coach Claude Julien to make his team make up for not skating in last night’s second half of the loss at New York by holding a bag skate are going to be disappointed.
As the Bruins took the Ristuccia Arena ice this morning about 14 hours after dropping a 5-3 decision to the Rangers after holding a 3-0 lead, there were plenty of sticks and pucks around for the guys to practice hockey rather than skate under their lungs bleed.
More later.
MCK – Who in the east is a great team again? Who would you say is better? They have as good a shot as anyone to play the West.
I’m not going to soil my pants just because they took a siesta the game after clinching the division. Then again – I like to actually root for my team, rather than give up on them before the first game. Whatever – its your choice.
Bojangles, good luck to you if you believe in this team. Believe in them to do what?
I’m with the 72 crowd, and I’m not all that upset with last night’s performance either. Listen – I’ve played sports, and as a player I know what mattered and what didn’t. I knew when to expend everything I had, and when I was smart to pull back and save it for when it really mattered. The Bs showed up – dominated for the 1st and went up 3-0. That was great. Then they let up – but so what?! What did it cost them? Nothing, that’s what. No one was hurt, and the idea is that no one will be gassed when the real season starts.
Way too many doubters and wafflers out there. I believe in this team, I believe in their make up (we’ve seen it in games that really mattered) and I know they’ll show up when its time to. For crying out loud – they just clinched the division – give them a break.
For now – I wouldn’t expect too much in the next couple games – I probably won’t even watch, cause what’s the point.
Any of you who were once athletes understand this.
Not trying to beat the team up per se. I felt the same way last year. I find it mind boggling that a coach can’t come up with a gameplan to counteract an aggressive forecheck. Also, from what I can see from afar as a fan is a coach that seems to lack intensity. The Bruins have played their best hockey when every player is intense. Those performances are few and far between though. A coach’s job is to motivate his players as well as be adept at the x’s and o’s. Julien is a good coach not a great one and unfortunately I don’t like their chances in the postseason. I’d love to be proven wrong though.
I think as a general rule you shouldn’t use skating/sprinting as punishment. Those things should be rewarding since they contribute so much to success on the field!
In all seriousness after last night’s debacle you’ve gotta just wipe the slate clean and try and have some fun Wednesday night. Bruins are their best when they play loose
habs, rangers, sabres… 1st round won’t be a picnic based on regular season results against these guys.
Last night sucked. But the Rangers took a major blow- Ryan Callahan has a broken ankle from blocking a Chara slapperoo. That guy is the heart and soul of that team; it’ll be interesting to see how they respond. NYR is tied with MTL now, too… think I might be a Montreal fan for the last 3 games of the season.
Right now – this our team. I’m with “backin72″. They get my support – a division best record and solid statistical numbers – last night was AWFUL, but the eye is now on playoffs. Get your microscopes ready.
C’mon guys, there’s no point beating up your team after 79 games. If you wanted to do that, the time was in October. Now you’ve gotta look forward, not back, or you’re dead.
Well in fairness to Claude he probably was going to skate them hard until the players started asking about why he was let go in New Jersey right before the playoffs. I imagine Claude is taking them out for ice cream after to keep their spirits up as well.
shocking.
That’s too bad. After they packed it in near the beginning of the 2nd last night, they deserve a bag skate. After the 1st, I thought “Hey, they came to play tonight” really disappointed after the 2nd started and should’ve quit watching after the 3rd started.
