For those with tickets to tonight’s glorified exhibition game at TD Garden, you should at least get to offer a hero’s welcome back to the lineup for winger Shawn Thornton.
Bruins head coach Claude Julien said that Thornton will “probably” play tonight against the New York Islanders for the first time since suffering a 40-something-stitch cut above his right eye against Chicago March 29. Thornton has missed three games since then.
The decision on a healthy scratch up front, as well as two on defense, will be made at game time, according to Julien. Tim Thomas was the first goaltender off the ice after the optional morning skate, so he’ll probably get the start.

I have to believe Thomas and Julien made a decision together on his playing time. I just hope they give Rask a playoff game thus year. Both goalies have looked burnt out in the 2nd round.
Aaron, I just figured Tuukka would get the Islanders and the Senators, then Thomas would finish against NJ. I’ve got no problem with Thomas getting another start to stay sharp, but he will now probably not see game action for over a week.
claude will play his pet ryder.Kelly should sit .enough with messing with seguin..Trying to fit this kid into claudes style isn’t gonna work.Expect one of them not to be here next year.
I agree that Tuukka should start, but I think CJ wants to give Timmah a chance for redemption. Usually after a bad game, Timmah ends up shining. Let’s hope that’s the case tonight. Go B’s.
I hope Rask starts. Timmy looked like he didn’t know where the goal was a few times during that third period Monday night. I know Ryder had that PS goal, but I would still sit him in favor of Seguin tonight.
why in the world would they start Thomas tonight?
@ Jeremy – think maybe Timmy wants a game to get focus and his game back on track. Round 1 won’t start for another week. If he has a good game I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tuuka play out the sched.
Wonder if Claude will split up #44/#12? I thought they looked just as bad as #54/#21 last game, maybe worse. Time to try Z/Kaberle?
Z might wind up playing 40 minutes a night in the PO’s if the rest of that D corps can’t get their s#$@ together.
Good to hear Thornton is back. Guy is 100% Grade A heart and balls.
Glad to see Thorts will play tonight.
Not happy with Glider…I mean Ryder taking away Seguin’s spot.
60 minutes tonight B’s and 2 points will be the result.
must be thomas’ last regular season start. look forward to seeing dr timmah and not mr floppy.
I don’t understand why Claude would throw out Thomas again. Tuukka hasn’t played in a while. Thomas also looked tired against the Rangers. Tonight seems like it would be a perfect time to give Tuukka a start.
Great news. Guessing Seguin will sit and Ryder will move up.
