Poll result: Readers get what they want – here come the Habs
Everything fell in place tonight to appease readers of TheBruinsBlog.net.
First Montreal won at Toronto. And then Philadelphia won at home against the New York Islanders. When the dust settled, the Flyers were the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Bruins were locked in as the No. 3 and the Canadiens were the No. 6.
That means the Bruins and Habs will meet in a best-of-seven first-round series.
You can’t complain, because the majority of you wanted it:
This will be the third time since the lockout the two archrivals have met in the postseason, with the teams splitting the previous two series. The Canadiens won the last two series before the lockout.
But this will be the first ever series between the teams during a criminal investigation against a Bruins defenseman. No word yet on whether Zdeno Chara has to play in an orange jump suit.
I’ll have plenty more preview coverage between Sunday and the probable start of the series Thursday.
Agree this is 7 games, Miller may be an elite goalie, but the Sabres goaltending is not really the issue. It’s more how they smoke our goalies. Also, this season, they got Brodeur for 3 twice, they beat Luongo (who I’m not so high on personally, along with Fleury and Price whom they also laid waste to at least once) They beat up on Vokun as well. They have had trouble with Lunquist, but really, he’s the only goalie that worries me in the current playoff structure, and the Bruins got 3 in on him in the least 25 minute game they played against the Rangers and they would have eliminated a big issue if they had played 60 minutes that day! it makes me mad because Carolina would not have had a prayer against Boston.
Got it, MK.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this series went to 7 games. The Bruins generally do not play well @ the Bell Centre
MCK I don’t know if I agree, Bruins never play well against elite goalies. Price has his moments where he seems unbeatable but for the most part he lets in just enough weak goals to allow the Bruins to sustain momentum and confidence. The Habs have their active crowd but that can work against them if the Bs steal an away W
MTL makes me uneasy. They would have smoked Buffalo
I can’t say that this is the match up I really wanted for the first round. I just preferred it over the Sabres.
I think the Bruins can beat the Habs if they show up to play and I think more than any other matchup this is the one where home ice advantage will truly be an advantage for the Bruins. They are generally a good road team, but not so much in Montreal.
Bruins fan 1st, sharks fan 2nd. This is the year the bear eats shark from a cup. Raise your beers and cheers to Thomas. Best backstop beyond Brodeur.
If the Dr Jekyll Bruins show up, as one would expect in the playoffs, we have already seen they can keep up with any team in the league and put them to sleep (except Detroit).
Matt,
I hope you’re ready for the return of Kostisyn and Moen to you blog space, the Canadeins have already begun coming!
Ryan- Watch it with your language, even if you use the proper biological term.

Great comments by Rugged Ryan and the Other Nifty. First of all, this will be a great series. Second of all, once it is over, the Bruns will be wishing they had played the Sabres.
This will be a great series.
I wanted the Sabres. C’est la vie. Be careful of what you wish for.
bring on the smurf turtles. this is good vs evil.
History will be made… again. Time to get excited.
