Bartkowski joins the fray
WILMINGTON, Mass. — Rookie Matt Bartkowski has joined the Bruins for the club’s first playoff practice today at Ristuccia Arena.
Bartkowski, who was expected to be among the “Black Aces” back in Providence, will serve as the eighth defenseman while Steven Kampfer is out with a knee injury.
In addition to Bartkowski and the seven other D, all 13 forwards and three goaltenders (Anton Khudobin is up from Providence) were on the ice.
Officially, the Bruins made some recalls from the Providence (AHL) farm club: goalies Michael Hutchinson and Khudobin; forwards Jamie Arniel, Jordan Caron, Zach Hamill, Lane MacDermid, and Trent Whitfield; and defensemen Yury Alexandrov, Bartkowski and Kampfer.
Indeed weird to leave the 2nd best goal scorer of the team out of there. I understand MacD being in there because there’s no depth for that kind of role player.
& Whitfield because of his way higher level of overall experience. So it was a ’2 out of 3′ call between Arniel, Hamill & Sauve. NHL experience must have been the only factor of decision & I don’t agree with it. Sauve is the player with most upside out of those 3.
Dr. Peter – Oh, right… Of course. I must be an idiot.
… and of course that must be Peter, as in Pecker?
Of course no Sauve!–he has no big league experience–all the others that were recalled do, in one form or another (e.g., Alexandrov = 2 years in the KHL).
anakin quaid thats pretty funny
You read my mind, Bojangles! I was thinking the exact same thing.
No Sauve – am I vastly overrating this kid?!
Yep let’s just pray no D get injured. I’m a fan of the Sheriff, but dear lord he’s looked awful after a decent 1st game.
The rate he and Ference had been playing, it wouldn’t surprise me if they go back to 10 minutes per game
meh. we’re in trouble if one of the six starters goes down. i remember anakin quaid (pre darth quaider) was limited to something like 5 minutes per game during last year’s playoffs.
