Final score: Montreal 3, Bruins 1
BOSTON — The Bruins continued to come up with the perfect formula for a Montreal victory tonight.
A few horrendous giveaways, some missed coverages and plenty of missed scoring opportunities by the Bruins added up to a Game 2 victory, 3-1, tonight at TD Garden in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
The Bruins now trail the series, 2-0, with Game 3 and 4 in Montreal next week.
Just like their 2-0 loss in Game 1, the Bruins coughed up the puck immediately before the Habs scored all three goals in tonight’s triumph.
Here’s a quick glance at the box score:
•Montreal goaltender Carey Price made 35 saves. And his teammates helped him out with 27 blocked shots, led by Hal Gill with five.
•Tim Thomas finished with just 23 saves in net for the Bruins.
•Michael Cammalleri, Mathieu Darche and Yannick Weber scored Montreal’s goals. Weber was a late addition to the lineup for the injured Andrei Kostitsyn.
•Patrice Bergeron scored the only goal of the game and the series for the Bruins. He led the team with six shots on net. Nathan Horton registered no shots on goal.

lets face it we are not good enough .we look slow and confused and montreal is just skating circles around us.our defence is getting caught running around in there own end really last night sidenberg was our only bright spot on defense Kaberle has beem a waste of a good draft pick.Up front Marchand is our only bright spot we are too slow moving the puck in all three zones and too slow on the forecheck we are just too slow peroid and i wouldn’t be shocked if we went out 4 straight.as a long time bruins fan iam embarressed by this type of effort
I honestly think a line mix up would look good and I wouldn’t mind seeing Marchand return to play a few shifts with the merlot line.
I also think against the Habs Seguins speed and shooting ability are an asset more than his lack of defensive skills aren’t. I think they should suit him up and let him play, if we are going to go out in four games, the kid needs a chance to play a littler and honestly he can’t make the team look any worse-they have pretty much managed that without him.
Not sure who to sit, because frankly I think we still need Paille on the team for PK’s. Maybe move Paille to the Kelly, line and bump Seguin up to Bergeron and let Ryder take a seat.
stuart would look good in a bruins uniform …..nice trade
Zero coaching adjustments made in basically a must win game. Horton and Lucic had one good shift – TT still has yet to show he can steal a playoff game in his career
I apologize about the lines, I put Seguin twice…second one should read Campbell.
Should go back to these lines:
Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Recchi-Bergeron-Ryder
Seguin-Kelly-Peverley
Marchand-Seguin-Thornton
The Recchi-Bergeron-Marchand line hasn’t worked well in months. Give them credit they got something tonight, but Marchand is not working well with this line. Remember the one and only game he was put on the 4th line recently? That line had a goal and it brought a lot of energy to the team. Recchi needs to retire after this year. I can certainly tell he’s not the same as he used to be. However, the real problem is that the Bruins forwards have little puck handling skill. Marchand is decent at times, but not much from anyone else. The Canadiens are getting to play their game…which is close-tight checking. Unfortunately, the Bruins forwards can’t handle the puck well under those conditions…so they are turning it over often. It’s only going to get worse in Montreal, so I would say…we’re done son. Don Cherry thinks the team should shift to Rask. Rask usually allows one bad goal a game, but I would be interested to see if the tide turned if it did happen.
The Jacobs family should be giving rebates to all of the loyal fans who pay top dollar to watch Disney on ice. Neither Claude or any Bruin think it isw a big deal the way they are playing I see it in the interviews. This is a black and gold nightmare.
Why would you have a coach who will not play it’s fastest player? This team needs to be overhauled. There might be one decent line on the whole team and they never play at the same time. GOD they suck.
Only to be replaced by similar players and a coach with a similar philosophy. That won’t work, either.
Wake up, management. Get some players on this team that can score.
The break-out is still terrible, the special teams suck, and while playing a faster team – # 19 sits while the Glyder 73 plays!
The good news is that Clod and some of the heart-less turds on this team will be gone soon.
To play a whole season and then turn in these two putrid games…I’m at a loss for words. Do the Bruins know they are playing in the playoffs? The way they turn the puck over, lose the battles against the boards and they can’t make a godamn 4 foot pass if their lives depended on it.
Thomas did great but not all his teamate!
*Walk in the park*
GL the end is still far away
Btw did u all think the reason why chara wasnt there is true?If yes he may not be in good phusical shape…Or Julien gave a too big practice:P
Hey Joe, when youve scored 1 goal in two games and committed over 20 turnovers, the goalie probably isnt the first place to point fingers.
Heh:
“Tim Thomas finished with just 23 goals in net for the Bruins.”
Sure feels like it.
I really wish the team would learn how to pass the puck and even more to stop turning it over.
The minute they said Chara was a scratch (and he looked awful in warm ups so I am not shocked he was a scratch) I knew we had lost the game.
I am pretty sure we aren’t going to win two in Montreal and history and stats aren’t in our favor.
I just hope when everything is over Julien gets the ax because he just can’t seem to win the big ones. Julien has an excuse in Chara being sick, but I am not sure Chara’s presence would have made a difference tonight.
