BOSTON — The Bruins continued to come up with the perfect formula for a Montreal victory tonight.
A few horrendous giveaways, some missed coverages and plenty of missed scoring opportunities by the Bruins added up to a Game 2 victory, 3-1, tonight at TD Garden in the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.
The Bruins now trail the series, 2-0, with Game 3 and 4 in Montreal next week.
Just like their 2-0 loss in Game 1, the Bruins coughed up the puck immediately before the Habs scored all three goals in tonight’s triumph.
Here’s a quick glance at the box score:
•Montreal goaltender Carey Price made 35 saves. And his teammates helped him out with 27 blocked shots, led by Hal Gill with five.
•Tim Thomas finished with just 23 saves in net for the Bruins.
•Michael Cammalleri, Mathieu Darche and Yannick Weber scored Montreal’s goals. Weber was a late addition to the lineup for the injured Andrei Kostitsyn.
•Patrice Bergeron scored the only goal of the game and the series for the Bruins. He led the team with six shots on net. Nathan Horton registered no shots on goal.
