Regardless of your opinion on NHL franchises in Sun Belt cities, you have to feel some sympathy for fans of the Nashville Predators.
The Preds have never won a playoff series and have been in financial peril for years.
While not as plentiful as hockey fans in traditional markets, there are some long-suffering Preds fans. Last night, Mike Fisher’s goal with 9:39 left in regulation gave those supporters some hope of a first-ever playoff-series triumph.
For his efforts, Fisher is TheBruinsBlog.net’s Star of the Night.
The Preds prevailed 4-3 over Anaheim in last night’s Game 3. They now lead the series 2-1.
Honorable mention: Brandon Dubinsky (1-1-2, GWG with 1:39 left) of the New York Rangers; Teemu Selanne (2 goals) of Anaheim; Mikael Samuelsson (GWG 6:48 into 3rd) of Vancouver.
Last night’s scores
NY Rangers 3, Washington 2
Nashville 4, Anaheim 3
Vancouver 3, Chicago 2
Today’s games
Philadelphia at Buffalo, 7
Boston at Montreal, 7:30
Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay, 7:30
Detroit at Phoenix, 10:30
Matt. I’m reading the ads like a good patron and I’m sure the doctor in the CAA/Medical Insurance is Dr.Luke at London Health Sciences. I know the ad is from Canada so it’s got to be him. Scary. It’s like he’s watching me and making sure I’m being healthy. On a side note Eric Lindros donated 5 million to that hospital. Just thought I’d say something nice about big E.
B’s should’ve made some cap room for Arnott. Caps gave up a second rounder and David Steckl for him, and Steckl is a stiff aside from face-offs and penalty killing (kinda sounds like Chris Kelly…). Probably could’ve buried Glyder and sent Paille/a second rounder or something to NJD for this guy. Arnott’s contract is up this year anyway, and he is built for playoff hockey. The Bs’ third line might be a little more difficult to deal with if Arnott were mucking it up in the corners for them… yowza. Guess we’ll never know.
Who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Maybe they made a bid for Arnott. It was his call so you know he thinks the Caps have a good shot. I like their chances.
Yeah they are both guys that can take it to the HNL.(hole notha level). I questioned Arnott’s dedication early in his career but that was a long time ago. He’s a leader now and having fun playing with some thorougbreds.
Fisher and Arnott are looking to be the best moves at the deadline so far, IMO.
Why couldn’t he have married a Pat’s cheerleader! This was a center I would have liked but only one team had the chance.
How about we trade Fisher for Kelly and Kaberle BOTH.
Really swung and missed on these two trades. Not only that, but we pretty much swung from our heels too. Two 1s and a 2 for Kelly and Kaberle.
I think I just threw up in my mouth.
