Final score: Bruins 5, Montreal 4 (OT)
MONTREAL — Go ahead and dare to count out these Bruins?
But if you give up, you just might miss the ride of a lifetime.
Outplayed for close to the first 30 minutes, the Bruins overcame deficits of 1-0, 3-1 in the first two periods, and then 4-3 in the third period before Michael Ryder’s overtime goal clinched a victory in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with Montreal at the Bell Centre.
The series is now tied, 2-2, with Game 5 in Boston Saturday night.
Ryder’s goal was his second of the night, as the Bruins’ third line combined for eight points. Chris Kelly scored his second goal of the series — to tie the game with 6:18 left in regulation — and added two assists. Rich Peverley notched two assists.
Here’s a quick glance at the box score:
•Andrew Ference and Patrice Bergeron scored Boston’s other goals.
•Tim Thomas allowed a short-side goal to P.K. Subban that gave the Habs the lead 1:39 into the third period. But Thomas also stopped 14 of 15 shots in the first period to keep the Bruins within 1-0 despite getting outshot 15-8. Thomas finished with 34 saves.
•Carey Price finished with 30 saves.
•Bergeron led the Bruins with seven shots on net, while Johnny Boychuk led with five blocked shots.
•The Bruins held Montreal without a shot on net for 5:52 of the second period after they fell behind 3-1 and called a timeout.

I thought CJ took the TO at the right time.
Hey Clode – nice timeout, you slouch!
Just one more bullet point:
Marchand had two assists. Including a beauty to Bergie.
Matt K,
Awesome Picture!!!!
Campbell was awful tonight, so was the rest of 4th line
Looch has to come around eventually. He has always been a solid playoff guy. For him to disappear at this time of year is surprising. I have faith that he’ll produce.
Lucic has to be hurt, right? He’s been a zombie this whole series. Other than a couple good shots he’s been completely invisible. Except when he’s standing still, skating slowly, or turning over the puck.
About time the third line showed up! 2nd and 3rd lines were monsters, 1st and 4th made me nervous whenever they were out there. Everyone can quiet down now about Seguin
b’s depth starting to shine through. the not so segzy and killer b lines will be enough to get by the habs.
price looking at little tired, eh? despite giving up 4 goals, timmy made some incredible saves.
Fantastic effort boys this is the heart were asking for thank you
Ryder, the Ghost of Canadiens Past
Ryder showed up and had a good game with his linemates. Put him in the hall of fame for God sake. And Clodd too, he out coached Montreal tonight.
Dr. Peter agreed Looch WILL COME AROUND
They should sit Ryder’s sorry ass down and play Seguin.. oh wait.
I thought Lucic had a good game. He’s not on the scoresheet but he was on Subban all night. Forced some turnovers. How about Michael Ryder? Finally.
Don’t worry people–Looch WILL come around!!
Loving it, but where the heck is LOOCH??!!
What did I say the other night on this exact site?–that Ryder has a hard, quick release….winner! It would have been even more celebratory if the B’s entire bench had joined arms and sang ole, ole, ole, ole at the conclusion of the game and given the crowd the one-finger salute–Price-less (hee-hee!!)…
