BOSTON — This will be the one they talk about if the Bruins finish the 2011 Stanley Cup playoff on top of the heap.
A grueling double-overtime affair featuring 96 shots on net, 41 blocked shots and 73 hits ended when Nathan Horton tapped in the winning goal for a 2-1 victory 9:03 into the second overtime at TD Garden.
“I was just saying to [Mark Recchi] in there, I said ‘those are the feelings you miss when you’re done with hockey.’ It’s an incredible feeling,” said defenseman Andrew Ference after he helped set up the winning goal. “I’ve been on both sides of the coin, so it’s nice to be on the right side.”
