Wisniewski, Desharnais questionable for Habs for Game 6
The Montreal Canadiens kept their practice short today in preparation for tomorrow’s Game 6 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Bruins.
Maybe they should’ve worked a little longer in order to iron out their new-look lineup because they might be without two of their key players because of injury.
Defenseman James Wisniewski (undisclosed) and center David Desharnais (lower body) both suffered injuries in Game 5 and didn’t practice today. Wisniewski was in and out of the lineup, while Desharnais was hurt in the first overtime and didn’t return.
Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette filed the following from today’s practice:
[Head coach Jacques] Martin moved Tom Pyatt to Desharnais’s spot on the fourth line with Benoit Pouliot and Ryan White on the wings, but there’s a good possibility that Pouliot, who has been in Martin’s bad books, will remain on the sidelines and that defenceman Yannick Weber will play on the wing.
Of course, Weber could be needed on defence. On Monday, he took the place of the other question mark in the lineup — defenceman James Wisniewski.
Martin said he kept his practice short because he’s planning on playing two games in the next two nights. To make that come true, his team has to win Tuesday night. The Habs might have to do that shorthanded.

I hope the B’s can take advantage of the thinned team and put this game away tonight.
If they don’t, the only bright spot for the return to TD Garden is I think our guys can manage the back to back better than theirs given how thin their defensive corps has gotten.
Desharnais is a feel good story. At his size, there was very little chance he’d make it into the NHL but he was simply too good for the AHL.
@Dr. Peter> C’mon… I’m a Bs fan, too, but Desharnais still hasn’t played a full NHL season yet. He scored 22 points in 43 games– the same number Seguin had in 70+ games. The other nifty is right… he did make me nervous in game five, and the Canadiens I think will have to dig deep to make up for the absence of both of these players if they don’t skate in game 6.
look forward to seeing subban play another 30+ minutes.
Bruins need to hit these two if they dress and I mean all night!
Desharnais represents what a lot of those “little guy” habs are–full of bark (i.e.,lots of chances) but no bite (i.e., no goals)!!
Desharnais was one of Montreal’s best players last game. He made me nervous at times. I was worried he might draw a penalty or score in OT.
