According to the Twitter feed of Sportsnet analyst Nick Kypreos, Bruins forward Milan Lucic will not face supplemental discipline for his boarding call last night in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with Montreal.
The hit caused a cut to Jaroslav Spacek’s face in the second period of the Canadiens’ 2-1 win and earned Lucic a five-minute major and game misconduct.
Kypreos writes:
Milan Lucic available for Gm 7 as he will not face further discipline from the NHL regarding his major penalty on Canadiens Spacek.
So we know Lucic will be available to the Bruins for tonight’s Game 7 at the TD Garden and the No. 17 sweater will be filled. Whether Lucic actually shows up to play remains to be seen. In six games, Lucic has recorded just one assist.

Tons of jobs on the line tonight – take your pick if they lose because Neely will blow it up
It’s obvious by watching the last 4 games who has the better team. If you can’t hold off an obviously worse opponent when it really matters, the coach of that team will pay the price as much as the players.
kevin i couldnt agree more. he used to change the momentum of games because the rest of the team would follow his cue and play with energy. Even in fights he doesnt seem to have the same heart and passion. and the other nifty, they finished 3rd in the East, around 100 points, 2nd in the league in fighting majors and are a young team with high hopes. they can be frustrating as all hell and at times play a game (because of claude) that isnt high paced, but u cant complain about what youve gotten from this team. tonights a huge test, if they lose, claudes gotta be gone.
Lucic has never been as effective as he was during his rookie season. Yes he scored more this year but the hitting part of his game has suffered. I would rather have him hit more & scare the daylights out of the opposition even if he only scored say 20 goals instead of 30. The sad part is in this series he hasn’t been scoring any nor hitting much either, double disgust in my books.
All of the bruins need to play smash mouth hockey in order to win. Gil needs a lucic or thorton tune up. Some one needs to tune that PK whatever up. These Canadians play dirty wimpy hockey. Just pound the snot out of them……
@ Dan, I never suggested sitting Lucic. I was making reference to the title of the article: Lucic not suspended.
lucic is what he is..He needs to remeber he’s a goon that can score 20 plus a season.If your gonna plat thorton 2 min then sit him put seguin in if not just for special teams..plus he gets playoff exp……putting pallie on first line was a joke last night..where was rechhi last few nights? maybe a practice wouldnt hurt him afterall
One of the most exciting teams in the league? Not by a long shot.
Lucic was not a bust last year but he sure enough seems to have forgotten this is the play offs.
He will be well rested and mad tonight-just hope he keeps the anger under control and maybe, finally, hopefully plays (he was actually playing better in game 5 even though the line didn’t do much points wise until the OT). He really didn’t get a chance to do much last night before he was ejected.
I am actually one who thinks if Thornton is only playing 2 to 5 minutes a game, then dressing Seguin for his scoring ability alone and to work on the PP may be a good idea. his speed can also negate the Habs speed and lord knows Seguin is well rested (although he may be rusty).
If Julien just has to put an energy line out there, then Marchand can fill in on the wing on the fourth line with Campbell and Paille a few shifts. Given the minutes that line has logged Marchand should be able to handle them. He was one of the few players who still had a lot of speed in the double OT.
I think the back to back games may play into our favor though-their top pair D-men are logging a ton of minutes.
Still not convinced the B’s can mentally pull off a game 7 though-they just always seem to screw it up.
how can you make that comment before a game 7 versus montreal? are they frustrating at times? YES. are they one of the most exciting teams in the league who is physical and can score? YES. i am a season ticket holder and i am proud to be one. a loss does nothing good for this franchise right now. if you feel that way then dont bother watching the game tonight
Danbo, no one is saying to sit Lucic and play Seguin. Sit Thornton, play Seguin. Atleast have you’re useless comments make sense.
Maybe a loss and subsequent gutting wouldn’t be so bad. I’m sick of watching this team. I feel for the season ticket holders. At least I’m only investing time.
ryder = regular season bust
looch = playoff bust
both make $4m and i’d rather keep ryder right now.
Thanks Bill, your comment is also very constructive.
As a hockey fan, I would much rather have you not leave comments here seeing how useless you have been so far.
As a Habs fan, I would much rather have Lucic in the lineup than Seguin, seeing how useless he has been so far.
Now its time for Claude to sit Thornton who only logged 2:20 in ice time in game 6 and put Seguin in so our PP can get create and maybe just maybe score for friggen once.
Caused blood while boarding. Automatic, no argument.
Is he having a bad series? Yes. Am I down on him so much I forget what he can do? No.
Milan, one more game to break out of this. You can do it!
( Yes he reads this and values my input =p )
Sounds about right, he was already appropriately penalized for the hit. It wasn’t so dirty that it should be more than a major and an ejection. One can even make a reasonable argument for why a major was not appropriate, a sure sign there is nothing worth suspending.
