When there’s only one game in the Stanley Cup playoffs and it’s score is 1-0, you kind of have slim pickings to find one player that excelled.

Nonetheless, Vancouver’s Roberto Luongo, just two games removed from his second straight yanking, pitched a shutout last night.

For his 20-save effort in a 1-0 win over Nashville in Game 1 of the Canucks’ Western Conference semifinal series with the Predators, Luongo is the Star of the Night.

Among Luongo’s stops was a breakaway save on Mike Fisher in the third period. Getting pulled in Game 4 and 5 against Chicago might’ve been just what Luongo needed to get re-focused for what the Canucks hope is a long playoff run.

Honorable mention: Chris Higgins (G) of Vancouver and Pekka Rinne (29 saves) of Nashville.
