Poll result: Horton’s Game 7 goal makes him a Bruins hero
Regardless of how long this Bruins playoff run lasts, Nathan Horton is never going to have to buy another beer in Boston again.
The veteran power forward, who was an instant fan favorite from the time he was traded to the Bruins because he gave their league-worst offense an instant boost, followed up his Game 5 overtime goal against Montreal with another sudden-death score in Game 7. Any time your a key component in a defeat of the hated Habs, you earn folk hero status in the Hub.
Based practically on that series-clinching goal alone, Horton was voted the Bruin of the Week by readers of TheBruinsBlog.net:
Who should be the Bruin of the Week?
- Nathan Horton (61%, 60 Votes)
- Brad Marchand (20%, 20 Votes)
- Dennis Seidenberg (19%, 19 Votes)
Total Voters: 99
Although it’s taken a little longer to get there than first hoped, Horton has reached 30 goals for the season with his four postseason scores. His 30th came in the Bruins’ Game 1 win over Philadelphia.
He’s been a physical presence and an emotional leader as well for the Bruins’ cause. It’s been a great first season in Boston for Horton, who might have more clutch goals in his stick as this playoff run continues.

You score the biggest goal in recent history you’re the player of the week. He would have gotten my vote even if he played one shift and scored that goal. Nobody remembers that Crosby’s play at the Olympics was mediocre. If Canada loses he would have heard the rumblings. Overtime goals are redeeming.
Seems like it took quite a while to find his niche, but I think we can expect this physical snarl (that we didn’t see in the doldrums of mid-season) to continue into the coming years.
Again – its important to remember that the original plan was for him to be ripping feeds from Savard. Those two would have paired up famously… and if the Bs ever find that velvet feeder of puck again, all best are off with this Horton kid.
He would have been the Neely lite to Savard’s – Oates lite had they played together. Too bad, but I’ll take what we’ve got – No doubt.
This team is getting everyone going at the right time.
GO BRUINS GO!!! ALL OF EM.
I couldn’t agree more, scoring an O.T. goal in game seven against the hated Montreal Canadians will never be forgotten by Bruin fans, thanks again Mr. Horton.
