Sprained neck for Bruins’ McQuaid makes him day-to-day

BOSTON — Bruins head coach Claude Julien explained today at a TD Garden press conference that defenseman Adam McQuaid suffered a sprained neck last night in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series with Philadelphia.
The coach classified McQuaid as day-to-day and would not comment further on his availability for tomorrow night’s Game at TD Garden, where the Bruins will try to go up 3-0 on the Flyers.
The Bruins did not practice today and instead opted for off-ice workouts and soccer.
McQuaid hit the end boards headfirst after missing a check on Flyers center late in the first period. He did not return to the game and actually went to the hospital for evaluation.
If McQuaid can’t go, Shane Hnidy, who filled in for Zdeno Chara in Game 2 of the first round, would be his likely replacement. Julien said that rookie Steven Kampfer started skating today but is “still going to be a while.”

I am glad the injury isn’t more serious and hope he is able to play sooner than later. I really don’t want to see Hnidy on the ice that much, but Hnidy for McQuaid is better than Hnidy for Chara.
Glad it wasn’t a concussion. If Hnidy goes tomorrow, at least the Bruins have last change at can keep him somewhat away from *cough* certain people.
He’ll fill in now and then in game 3, probably more when and if the flyers use their 4th line. You can bet any flyers in front of Thomas will pay the price when he’s on ice.
Hnidy = VanReimsdyk’s highway turnstyle.
Forget the Darth Quaider and other nicknames… dude should just simply be called Gumby! If that were me, I would have snapped into two pieces clean enough for Dexter.

Glad to hear Mcquaid is day to day, hopefully sooner rather than later he will be back especially if Kampfer is unavailable. In the meantime Sherriff Hnidy will be the man, yikes!
