Just call him Brad “Hit Man” Marchand after physical Game 3
BOSTON — Bruins winger Brad Marchand was credited with seven hits through two periods of tonight’s Game 3 victory.
Luckily for the Flyers, he let up in the third and didn’t record another hit. The rookie had already registered enough “kills” for the evening in Boston’s 5-1 win that gave them a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal series with Philadelphia at the TD Garden.
“It was one of those games where I was angry the whole time, and my emotions kind of get the best of me, [and I was] just trying to run around and kill guys,” he explained. “So just one of those games. It’s not like that every night but tonight was one of those nights.”
Marchand was angry but smart. He avoided any extracurricular activity and didn’t receive any penalties. All he did was plant Flyers forward Ville Leino on his rear end twice on one penalty-kill shift and rock Philadelphia bones five more times, that the statisticians recorded anyway.
If his assist on the game’s opening goal just 30 seconds in didn’t set enough of a tone for the Bruins, Marchand’s physical play was electrifying and just what the team needed to keep its edge after grabbing that early lead.
Now if he can stay angry and play the same way in Game 4 Friday , he can buy him and his teammates some time to relax before the Eastern Conference finals begin.

(The Hammonds Plains) Hammer.
He’s played well on big stages. Two years at the World Jr.s where he was a big cog. I was concerned about him crossing the line and taking costly penalties. I’ve seen him do it before. Having veteran pros around him can only help with the maturing process. To Brads credit he has been arguably the B’s best player this post season. He hates to lose more than he loves to win. That’s one of his best qualities.
Another great game by Marchy. The kid is unstoppable. It´s always fun when he is on the ice.
Incredible night by Marchy – very impressive to see him own the ice like that.
Sometimes you draft a guy 2nd overall and just expect he’ll light the world on fire. Other times you trade up in the 3rd on a hunch and get unbelievably lucky. Kid was good during the season – has been UNBELIEVABLE in the POs. Seriously – this kid is only 23, and he’s certainly benefitting from playing with two of the most heady and responsible linemates around, but he’s top in plus minus, and one of the guys we all look to to make something happen when we need it most.
Never would have guessed he’d have another gear and would ratchet it up this much come playoffs.
Looks like BM will be getting a good bit of the coin that was originally allotted for Kaberle.
He is in line for quite a pay raise. Restricted after this season.
I like it but just add the to make it more fluid Brad “The Hit Man” Marchand
Hope he stays angry until he has a ring around his finger. Star of the night?
He is a real difference maker when this A game appears from him. He controlled the ice every time he was out there and with Bergy, and rechi open to do their thing yikes to the opponets. Great game
Seeing Marchand run around and be a presence like that was fun to watch.
