It wasn’t enough that the Bruins improved to 7-1 in their last eight games with their victory over Philadelphia last night in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series with the Flyers.
They also had to go and beat the Celtics.
Amazingly, the Bruins trumped their TD Garden co-tenants, who played in Miami Tuesday night, in the ratings game.
The Boston market received an 11.76 household rating for Game 3, which is the market’s highest local rating ever for an NHL game on VERSUS. The Bruins’ win over the Flyers earned a higher rating in Boston than that Celtics-Heat game on TNT Tuesday (11.1).
The game was also up 47 percent from the Bruins’ 2010 semifinal exclusive three-game average in the market on VERSUS (7.98, also against Philadelphia) and up 3 percent from Game 2 of the series this year on VERSUS (11.39).
VERSUS was the No. 1 rated network overall in Boston during the time period.
Obviously the Bruins are capturing the hearts and imaginations of the fans in this region. Now if VERSUS could just get on the air in hotel rooms.

Milbury is probably getting a bigger paycheck north of the border. He’s on CBC all the time and quite honestly, you can have him back. He’s as good of a commentator as he was a GM. (Gave up Chara and Spezza for Yashin..)
Good on you guys to be tuning into hockey. It should be the #1 sport in new-england. Screw Basketball and baseball.
Jack will have three games worth of pent-up emotions tomorrow night. Should be classic. Hope Edwards and Brickley get some air time if/when the Bruins get to the third round. I’m all for the sport expanding its base with national telecasts, but I hate that the local broadcasts get shorted in the playoffs. And what’s with Milbury completely abandoning NESN after the regular season every year? Just not the same for me when he isn’t on.
I’m not sure what I would rather not watch. Basketball or Soccer. I hear Basketball players have to be careful with the increase security at sporting events. Wouldn’t want to forget you’re packing and walk through the metal detectors. Awkward.
Right on! Bring on Jack Edwards!
I can’t wait to get Jack Edwards back tomorrow…
GET UP!
