Star of the Night: Ward’s whirlwind scoring binge continues for Preds

Nashville’s Joel Ward scored just 10 goals in the regular season.

With his two-goal outburst in last night’s win over Vancouver, he now has scored seven in the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs.

Yes, Ward has picked a great time to become a prolific scorer. His two goals helped Nashville down the Canucks, 4-3, in Game 5 of their Western Conference semifinal series. For his efforts in helping the Preds stave off elimination for the first time in franchise history, Ward is the Star of the Night.

“I was getting some good bounces and just having a fun time,” Ward told The Tennessean after the game. “It’s a good time of year, and I’m just trying to enjoy it and have fun with it.”

Ward will try to continue to “have fun with it” in Game 6 back in Nashville Monday night.

Honorable mention: David Legwand (2 goals) of Nashville; Ryan Kesler (2 goals) of Vancouver.
