Star of the Night: Wings’ Filppula helps force Sharks to a Game 7
Point-less in the first five games of Detroit’s Western Conference semifinal series with San Jose, Valtteri Filppula picked a great time to break out of his drought.
The winger assisted on Henrik Zetterberg’s tying goal and then scored the goal that put the Red Wings ahead for good last night in their 3-1 Game 6 victory over the Sharks, who have now squandered a 3-0 series lead and will host Game 7 Thursday.
For his efforts, Filppula is the TheBruinsBlog.net Star of the Night.
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press explained in her story:
Forward Valtteri Filppula looked like the star the Red Wings long have thought he could be Tuesday, making plays all over the ice to help them beat San Jose, 3-1, at Joe Louis Arena.
She later wrote:
The Wings have high expectations of Filppula, but have been frustrated at times because he doesn’t go to the net enough, doesn’t play down low enough. He didn’t have any points against the Sharks before Game 6.
Now Filppula has gone from a drought to a hot streak. If he can keep it up in Game 7, he may be part of a little history.
Honorable mention: Jimmy Howard (24-for-25 saves), Henrik Zetterberg (GTG) and Pavel Datsyuk (A, plus-2) of Detroit; Antti Niemi (42-for-44 saves) of San Jose.
Last night’s score

Tonight’s games

Detroit looked scary last night.
Am I getting too familiar calling Matty, Matty, Mister Kallman. Is that German??
I learned english grammar in a 6th week summer camp (federal program) in Halifax among other stuff, and got along good with the Scott’s and the Irish there. They know their grammar and are witty as can be. I remember playing drums on washing machines and dryers comes to mind as I am writing this blinded with slightly more watery eyes than 10 sec. past.
BTW I do not know about the low tide but we all are mariners us from the old continent aren’t we.
P.S. I can’t recall what’s this last interrogative form is called though. But the beaches around Halifax were like water in the desert. I am having fun writing english and if Matty didn’t have the wit I wouldn’t be with…….
Low Maintenance guy that can step up in huge games.
@Bernard Gilbert…I don’t know if it’s a language disconnect or if you are some kind of avant-garde poet…but your post are getting trippier with each passing day. Sometimes I think I follow them and then I reread them and they confound me all over again. Keep up the good work my friend.
I picked this then kid as my 2oth pick in my pool three years ago or so for the playoff run and he had me winning $350.00. Cheers Bro. LOL LOL but truer than Moses.
