The update on Bruins’ Bergeron is that there’s no update
BOSTON — Bruins center Patrice Bergeron skated today at the TD Garden for the second straight day on the road to recovery from his “mild concussion.”
During his morning media briefing at his club’s home rink in the aftermath of Boston’s Game 1 loss to Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference Final last night, head coach Claude Julien stated the obvious when asked about his star pivot.
“You saw him skate and that’s basically where he’s at right now. And that’s the only update I can give you,” said Julien.
Bergeron, who was concussed May 6, was skating on his own under the watchful eye of strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides. For the portion of his skate that could be watched before Julien began his press conference, he didn’t seem to be going full-tilt or skating any sprints.
The Bruins are looking forward to the potential return of their alternate captain, but they’re not letting it distract them according to defenseman Andrew Ference.
“Honestly, you’re happy for him. You wish him the best, but you can’t get excited or frustrated if he has a setback,” said the blueliner. “He’s out right now. That’s kind of the end of it. It’s not really discussed a whole lot more. It’s not like we’re pining for the moment he comes back. We know guys can fill in.”

Practiced today, not just skated. Book him for Game 2
After last night’s game I am not so sure there are guys who can fill in.
My fingers are crossed that he gets healthy and is able to come back-however I agree you can’t set up the hopes that he will be back-he can always have a setback, but if he is skating today then it looks like there weren’t any setbacks yesterday.
I have seen rumors that he may come back for Tuesday’s game, but I can’t help but think they won’t bring him back until at least game 3. If he starts taking contact tomorrow or Tuesday during practice then I will start to think for sure we will see him in this series provided the contact practice results in no setbacks.
