Final score: Bruins 6, Tampa Bay 5
BOSTON — The offensive eruption we all knew was coming from Tyler Seguin took down Tampa Bay tonight.
The rookie forward, skating in just his second NHL playoff game, finished the night with two goals and two assists as the Bruins won a game at the TD Garden despite some of the loosest defense they’ve ever played under head coach Claude Julien.
With the 6-5 victory in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final, the Bruins evened the series at one game apiece heading to Tampa.
Here’s a glance at the box score:
•In addition to Seguin’s four-point night, the Bruins also got multi-point games from Michael Ryder (2-1-3), Tomas Kaberle (0-2-2), Nathan Horton (1-2-3) and Dennis Seidenberg (0-2-2).
•Seguin was plus-3. Not to ruin the moment, but Johnny Boychuk was a minus-3.
•Seidenberg finished the night with a plus-2 rating in 31:25 of ice time.
•Vinny Lecavalier led the Lightning with a 1-3-4 night.
•Nathan Horton finished with seven hits but also took two minor penalties.

Why is it Chara has to turn the puck over at least twice a game. His turnovers always come at the worst time too.
Isn’t there a rule that the whistle has to be blown whenever a goalie’s helmet comes off? TT actually got hit somewhere in the head after that, then the goal was scored. Where were the refs!!!
CJ gets full credit for developing this talent in Seguin and the kid gets full marks for understanding he is an investment for this team.He could have spent this year “downunder” but this guy is going to be a BRUIN for a long time…Ryder came on big time.
As for the Timmy smackdown …what the hell was that?
RF, couldn’t agree more. MK has been one of the biggest detractors and critics of the kid all year, especially in the playoffs. I’ve been a supporter of Seguin, especially on the horrible pp the last 2-3 months.
However, you do have to admit that for most of the year, he didn’t earn his ice time, and at times looked lost. The one thing that he does have, far above all others on this team, is his top-end finishing talent, speed and puck handling ability.
He is the ONLY game changer on the team, and has shown that last 2 games. He has the POTENTIAL to be very good for the Bs, but he has to be more consistent. MK needs to eat a little crow, although I do agree with some of the critiques, the kid has amazing offensive talent.
“The offensive eruption we all knew was coming from Tyler Seguin took down Tampa Bay tonight.” I would take issue with the “we all knew” part here, pretty sure this blog has been ripping this kid since October of last year.
Boychuck’s worst game as a bruin.
WHAT A GAME!!!!!
I think the refs are counting their lucky stars TT didn’t get seriously injured on that deflection off his head for that goal. CJ was diplomatic with the refs about that non-whistle in the post game presser.
Besides Seguin’s teriffic offensive game, Ryder was excellent defensively, as well as, on the scoring sheet. He made 3 BIG defensive plays.
It was good to see Roloson get ‘yanked’ after the 2nd. He couldn’t match TT’s play after the 1st period.
Thank you George I agree but didn’t want to be the first to say it. I love Seguin I cheer louder then any if he scores, but this regular season Id never think he could have done this, But wow am I sooo happy. He just didn’t care that is why, whats the worst the coach would do bench him, hes been watching from above for the whole playoffs he had nothing to lose and just did his thing.
Nothing Seguin did in the regular season gave me the impression he could have a night like this during these playoffs. But I always wanted him to get ice time in the hopes that at some point he could contribute, because the Bruins need a player with elite offensive skill in order to be a contender every year. Many players had a great game tonight, and I would trade the defensive lapses for the offensive explosion any night.
Does anyone remember when earlier
In the playoffs when Roloson’s helmet strap broke and he made it come off his head himself? The play was around his net but the whistle was blown instantly. There is no reason for any goalie on any team to have to make saves without a helmet on, no matter how it comes off. Maybe I’m biased for playing goalie my whole life.
