During his weekly radio appearance with Toucher and Rich on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli offered some interesting updates on Patrice Bergeron and Tyler Seguin today.
Chiarelli said Bergeron was scheduled to travel with the Bruins to Tampa for Game 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference Final, which is tied 1-1. As for Bergeron’s availability to return from his concussion and play, Chiarelli said:
“He’s improving rapidly. I can’t tell you with certainty that he’ll be in. But he’s been really good.”
Chiarelli noted that Bergeron, who has been out since May 6, skated after his team’s morning skate with the “Black Aces” and absorbed some light contact yesterday.
As for Seguin, who has taken Boston and the Stanley Cup playoffs by storm after sitting out the first 11 postseason games, Chiarelli had this to say about what will happen to the rookie once Bergeron returns:
“I think we’ll find a spot for him.”
I’m not sure the Bruins will find a spot as much as he will demand and take one. Seguin is now in charge and the Bruins will have to do as he says from here on out.
