There’s no denying that people love “The Kid.”
Tyler Seguin has been one of the most popular Bruins since he was drafted by the team last June, and his play last week in the Eastern Conference Final just stoked the flames of desire fans have for No. 19.
After he produced two goals, two assists, nine shots on net and a plus-2 rating against Tampa Bay in three games last week, readers of TheBruinsBlog.net voted Seguin the Bruin of the Week:
Who should be the Bruin of the Week?
- Tyler Seguin (47%, 36 Votes)
- Patrice Bergeron (35%, 27 Votes)
- Michael Ryder (18%, 14 Votes)
- Tim Thomas (0%, 0 Votes)
Total Voters: 77
There’s no doubt that Seguin’s development has been accelerated since Patrice Bergeron went down with a concussion and head coach Claude Julien had to put the 19-year-old into the lineup. In addition to his high-scoring game in Game 2, he helped set up a goal in Game 3 with solid puck-protection.
Skating on a line with veterans Chris Kelly and Michael Ryder seems to have brought out the best in Seguin after a season during which he skated on numerous different lines, and both on the wing and at center.
Should the Bruins’ playoff continue and Seguin continue to contribute, the love affair between the fans and the rookie will intensify.
