Happy Horton has to find happy medium on ice for Bruins
Going forward, the Bruins need less apologies and more smart physical plays from Horton. All it takes is for him to combine his current on-ice ferocity with his off-ice congeniality and find a happy medium.
That’ll keep his team and his fans smiling as much as he does.

I personally think Looch is injured. He crash and bangs every now and then but just doesn’t seem right.

I’m surprised no one commented on how much Horton’s goal resembled the overtime winner in game 7 against Montreal. It was the identical play.
To me the switch Horton turned on mid-way through the season with his physicality is the difference in his overall play. Although the second penalty (interference on thompson) was unacceptable, i thought Horton was the only Bruin who skated with fire aside from seidenberg in that first period. This series is far from over and we need 2 solid efforts to pull this out
MCK – I think that was the whole intention of the trade that brought Horton to Boston. PC must have been envisioning Oates to Neely lite. Savard is the perfect center for Horton.
I far prefer Horton over Looch – although I do have to give credit where credit is due. That backhander to Horton was poetry on ice. Even Savvy has to tip his hat to that dish.
He’s been nasty. I love it. The overall physicallity of this team has allowed Julien to let Seguin play. That’s given them some more scoring depth and speed. Win. Win.
I feel like in the Flyers series the refs let them play playoff hockey
He would score 40+ with Savard. Easy.
It’ll be interesting to learn is someone (Read: Cam) had a talk with Horton sometime towards the end of the season. He’s been a completely different player, switched something on and it’s paying off on the ice and in the fan’s hearts. But, I was steamed at those two penalties as well as the earlier ones in this series. Glad he made up for them converting on some great backhand sauce from Lucic. And I one-timer to boot! I’ve ragged on his slow release for a while so that was nice to see. Imagine what he’d be doing with a magical gravy maker like Savard at 100%…
Yeah, they are calling bad ones on both sides. Last night, if you fell down, you were drawing a call.
More to the point of the article, the “first line” was horrific last night. Lucic is inexplicably bad. I don’t get it. They have been amazing in elimination games, so hopefully they regain the mojo tomorrow night and end this
I can completely agree with the terrible reffing in the series (and I think the Western conference may be even worse). It isn’t a “Oh my they refs are rooting for the other team” type garbage, just the refs are calling the soft calls and missing some of the real ones.
I personally like it when the refs don’t call the ticky tack stuff but they aren’t even consistent with that.

I think Horton and Lucic both need to learn to walk that fine line between angry and disciplined.
Although one of Horton’s calls looked rather soft (think it may have been the second one)-but soft of not it was close enough for the ref to call it and he needs to be better disciplined.
I do think that killing those two penalties are when the B;s finally started to skate better and got some momentum, but one thing about Tampa is that don’t give up and they have a corps of deadly snipers that can hit the goal at any time. Best to stay out of the box and not give their PP a chance to start clicking.
Horton performed in classic Bruin style. His two dumb penalties followed up with a crucial goal reminds me of a certain number eight that would boil over then he would skate down the right wing and let a low slapper go in off the far post. If you ask me number 18 has more of a number 8 talent than the highly touted 17 who played well last night but I think 18 is a better player especially when annoyed or frustrated.
