VANCOUVER — It doesn’t sound like the dramatic return of Manny Malhotra many were expecting for the Canucks is going to happen tonight in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Bruins.
While Malhotra returned from his serious eye injury last month to start practicing, he didn’t skate yesterday. Today Alain Vigneault gave a typical playoff game-day response to a question about the veteran center, who injured back in March.
“Manny is the same as he was yesterday. He’s day-to-day. He’s not skating today,” said Vigneault during a press briefing at the Rogers Arena.
When asked if “not skating” meant he wouldn’t play tonight, Vigneault put on his “official playoff coach grin” and gave an answer about not talking about lineups. I believe you call that “The Laviolette.”
