Claude can’t give up on Bruins’ power play just yet
When Kaberle watches video of Game 1, he’ll see the time he failed to shoot when he was open straight on from the goal with both Chara and Nathan Horton parked in front of the net. If ever there was time to get the puck to the crease, it was then. Instead he made a robotic pass over to Dennis Seidenberg for a shot that went right into a Canucks player’s shin pad.
That play wasn’t the reason the Bruins lost or even the reason the power play has now become the delinquent you praise for not getting arrested even though he comes home with all F’s on his report card. What that play is is a microcosm for everything the power play has gone through since the dawn of the 2010-11 season.
Julien’s seemingly endless patience has gotten the Bruins this far. But he shouldn’t let his patience lead to resignation about the power play. He has to continue to juggle lines, shift players and try to find that spark that could make this month notable for more than being the first June the Bruins’ franchise has ever played in.
It could be the first June the Bruins have won the Cup in, or at least scored a power-play goal in. The way things have gone, playing in June doesn’t even seem as rare as scoring on the power play.

Yeah I would like to see Shawn Thornton in the line to have him clobber Bieksa and Burrows. Recchi needs to sit he has done nothing. Seguin would look good on the line with Bergy and Marchand.
Just give Marchand a chance on the PP at least the kid deserves it.
Recchi is tired. He needs to spend more time on the bench or maybe on the press box. Get Seguin in that second line and let´s see what happens. at least try something.
Anyone wanting Recchi off the p.play is……….absolutely correct, same goes for Chara back on the point. Recchi, bless his heart has gotten progressively slower since the playoffs began. IMO, he should be on the third line or maybe even the fourth, infact, dare I say it, sitting in the press box in favour of Caron or Thornton. Sequin should be given more time on the power play, put Horton or Lucic in front of Luongo on the P.play. Give Marchand a chance. God what the hell is wrong with you Julien. Take Bergeron off the point & use him up front. Use Chara,Boychuk,Kaberle & Seidenburg as the point men, two on unit one & 2 on unit 2 with Chara on one unit & Boychuk on the other to unleash their cannons.
Wake the fu*^ up Julien. If you want to use a defenceman down low then put Kaberle or Seidenberg up front on the PP but not in front of the net, that is Lucic & Horton territory.
Definitely need a left hand shot on the RW on the PP, similar to what Savard used to do. Work the half wall and feed the bunch of right hand shot skill players the Bruins have. I would suggest putting Marchand in that Savard role, have Lucic play down low on the overload side and put a Horton/Seguin on the LW for the one timers.
Yeah I am in the limit Recchi’s time, because when he isn’t gassed he is better on the hockey instincts, but Recchi just looks done and he drags down Bergeron and Marchand.
The PP just sucks and I agree that the problem is more lack of movement than anything else. It is pretty easy to defend when the players are just standing there.
Put Seguin on the PP Please! What do you really have to lose? Remember his great game? He was on the PP!
Benching Rex for Thornton is not a good idea. A good idea would be limiting Rex’s time
Sorry about the questionable language, so much PP rage.
It’s goddamn embarrassing watching that PP with Chara in front of the net. Laughing stock of the league right now, not only because our PP is totally inept, but because we’re resorting to peewee tactics to fix it.
Cam, please, go slap the shit out of Julien and force him to roll out Horton Krejci Seguin, then Marchand Bergeron Lucic. Play a simple half wall cycle and let the far side defense sneak down for the backdoor pass. So simple, so so so simple.
Anyone who wants to bench Recchi so Thornton can play 2 minutes is a Canucks fan in my opinion. Recchi maybe should play a few less minutes for Seguin or Peverley for sure, but you don’t take Mark Recchi out of the SCF.

its not rocket science but:
Chara belongs on the point. He has no mobility and his stick is too long to react to rebounds;
Recchi needs to sit. Its hard to imagine that the best positioning he can come up wiht to shoot on a 5 on 3 is from behind the red line.
How Sequin is not out on the 5 on 3 baffles me – speed and best shot.
0 percent claude sits recchi at any point in this series, hed sit seguin first to get shawn in the lineup.
I love you Claude, but get your butt off the couch and go back to work on the PP, NOW!
1. Don’t overthink the damn lines, it’s more HOW they are playing than WHO. But do get Chara back on the point where he is a plus instead of a position he’s never played.
2. Movement – players with and w/out the puck need to be moving. MOVING! Wow, how hard is that?
3. Listen to RD. 1-touch shots. Not a take the pass, shuffle it back and forth, tee it up, fake the shot, fake the pass (“everyone on D ready and in position now?”) and then shoot.
Move, find the open man, rip it.
They did this in ONE game, and scored 2 PP goals!
ARRRGGHHH!!!!!!

Powersurge is right about Rex.
Rex and Roy Jones are hurting their legacy by hanging on too long.
Thorton could do what Z does so poorly on PPs. Z has no offensive skills other than his shot from the blue line. His biggest flaw: cannot read the play before it actually happens.
Kaberle seems to be looking for Sundin every time he gets his head up for info. Some guys should look at how Sundin always made himself open for a pass. Puck support lacks on PP and it’s the only effective tool when facing a puck pressure driven PK.
I really don’t want to see much of Recchi or Campbell. Campbell can barely get the puck out of his end.
I agree that Thornton should play next game , and it’s a shame but Recchi should be sitting. I respect the player for how he’s playing at that age, but you can tell that he’s got no “gas” left in the tank. This is/will be a physical series; bring back that efficient fourth line of Paille/Campbell/Thornton
IMO with the all the rough play Recchi should sit for Thornton, Pev or Seguin move to 2nd line.
Too much focus on thuggery, not enough on puck handling. The bruins looked like novices on that 5 on 3. One touch fellas, one timers!
The first line on the powerplay sucks, change it up . It looks like they are playing keep away.
