Chara still trying to screen goalie during Bruins’ PP practice

VANCOUVER — The Bruins decided to use the second off day before tomorrow’s Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final to go through an intense, one-hour practice at the University of British Columbia today.

After drills that addressed going to the net and building up speed through the neutral zone before break-ins, the Bruins capped off the session with some quick power-play work. Considering how positive they all feel about their man-advantage, why bother working on it?

Anyway, Zdeno Chara was still working in front with David Krejci and Nathan Horton. Tomas Kaberle and Dennis Seidenberg were the point men on that unit. The other quintet features Andrew Ference and Patrice Bergeron on the points with Tyler Seguin/Michael Ryder, Mark Recchi and Rich Peverley/Milan Lucic up front.

“It’s not that I’m learning it. I was in that role before,” explained Chara. “Obviously it’s a little bit different from being on the point. But I think the main purpose of the whole thing is the same: you have to be willing to do whatever it takes. All five guys have to do their jobs on the power play to be successful.

“You know, whatever position I’m on or in, I just try to do my best.”
