BOSTON — The Bruins have decided that the home crowd isn’t enough to provide the spark they need tonight in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.

So they’ve opted to insert Shawn Thornton in place of Tyler Seguin. Thornton was a healthy scratch the last seven games, including Boston’s losses in Game 1 and 2.

Undoubtedly the fans will love to see Thornton and the Bruins in the first Cup Final game in 21 years played in Boston.

“I think it’s a very positive thing to be at home. We have an opportunity to make it positive by having a good start, giving them a reason to cheer,” said head coach Claude Julien this morning. “I mean, if we’re going to kind of compare, all buildings are the same. They expect their teams to do well. No different here. High expectations, just like there is in Vancouver.

“If you want your fans cheering for you, you give them a reason to cheer. That’s what we need to do.”
