Where Ryder has been huge to me is actually in his own end. He’s getting low and stripping opponents at key times of vulnerability. Had an enormous lift of the stick last night when the game was close. I’ve been really impressed.
PD – thanks for the link. You know – its a good point you make about little Marchy and the control over his emotions. You’re probably right – Clode probably has gotten through to him – and the team leaders as well.
I was on record twice this year as saying I thought CJ had lost the team, and they were no longer buying into his system and had tuned him out. I was wrong by a long-shot. This is a team marching to one beat right now, and that’s Claude’s drum. Credit to Julien.
@BOJANGLES. Yeah Marchand is a keeper. There was a nice article in the local paper here yesterday about his parents going to the games in Boston. It’s nice to see him doing so well as his stardom in junior sort of faded as it went on. His BS on and off the ice got him basically benched for the last half of his last season here in Halifax. The team gave up the farm to get him and all he did was poison the room and take bad penalties. So its great to see him reign in the silliness just enough to become a very effective NHLer. I guess I have seen him go over the line so many times that when he did the hand dust thing I had a flashback. But he skated off with a sly smile and kept his mouth shut after the game so no harm no foul. CJ must be getting through to him. Nice to see and lets hope he fills the net Friday night…his mom is going to be at the game and she has turned into a good luck charm apparently. Go Bruins!

ditto that JPR, paille’s been aggressive, super fast, and non-stop. my new fav player. also hats off to lucic, who maybe hasn’t produced in the net, but man has that guy picked up his skates these last two games. and that amazing pass to perverley…good to see him making a difference again.
There is a reason that peverley was a 1st liner and top scorer on Atlants. The guy definitely brings a good amount of offensive upside to his game. No way Wheeler would have stepped up and had a game like Peverley did in Game 4, he’s not mature enough yet. While Atl might have gotten the better of the deal with Wheeler in the long haul, I couldn’t be happier about it right now. If bos wins the cup that deal is a BIG part of it!!!
Marchand was wiping his to say “Well,my job is done here for the night!” lol
I thought Peverley did a great job in Game 4 and even thou he hasn’t been scoring all that much, I’ve still be pretty damn happy with his play. And speaking of other players I’ve been happy with, I’ve been really impressed by Paille’s play the last couple of games. He’s really stepped it up and has been fun to watch on the ice. And of course being a Newfoundlander, it’s been nice to see Ryder come around and be a damn good playoff performer.
“Kool Aid Man ability to barrel to the net” Awesome! That and Milbury calling the “twins” Thelma and Louise made me laugh out loud. Did anyone notice in all the post game interviews how controlled the Bs all seemed. No one said anything that the Canucks can use as bulletin board fodder. Not too impressed with Marchand’s hand wiping at the end but he’s from my hometown so I will cut him some slack. 2 more wins boys…
The B’s should rock the all black uni’s in game 6

Good call on Pevs, Matty. Do you have a tip for the seventh at Aquaduct?
Yep, Pevs, Paille, Ryder, Thornton have all been awesome. That’s what you need right now … everybody pulling on the rope.
[...] Kalman, who called out Rich Peverley to step it up in yesterday’s blog, looks at Peverley’s big two-goal night in Game [...]
Role players usually don’t have a skill set like Pevs. Glad we got him. How about Ryder? The guy has been a leader out there.

PD – No Doubt Marchand is a little Bastard that we would hate if he were on the Habs. But he ain’t – and we LOVE him!
Difference b/w the Bs and Nucks – Bs don’t allow such baloney to continue – See Tank Thomas and Burrow(me a hole to hide in)s.

Part of the game is to shop around the shops that are shutting down to bring in talent and hardware in the yard. Hats off to PC.
Same goes for Kelly, The Sens are not exactly swamped with cash has it is right now either. Again Hats off to PC. Shark smelling blood works.
Guy is more than a role player. Given the opportunity, he looks like he can score 20 with ease
nice to see peverley hills ninja found a home on the top line.
