BOSTON — Rookie Tyler Seguin had a novel idea for the Bruins to snap the home-team stranglehold on the 2011 Stanley Cup Final tonight in Game 5 at Rogers Arena.
“I think you have to maybe pretend like we’re playing at home, maybe go out tonight and maybe block everything out and just play our game, carry on like we’ve done the last two games, stay consistent with that,” said the winger about 90 minutes before the puck drop. “And I think if we do that for the full 60 tonight, hopefully it works out for us.”
The home team has won the previous four games in this series.
Seguin, who re-entered Boston’s lineup in place of Nathan Horton for Game 4, which Boston won to tie the series up at two games apiece, again skated on the third line in the warm-up.
Here’s a look at the Bruins’ complete warm-up lineup:
Lucic-Krejci-Peverley
Marchand-Bergeron-Recchi
Ryder-Kelly-Seguin
Paille-Campbell-Thornton
Chara-Seidenberg
Kaberle-McQuaid
Ference-Boychuk
They’ve been in all three games in Van. They have to win one there so why not game seven. Lets not quit on these guys yet. I know they haven’t.
So.. we win games 3 and 4 by out-hitting and out- hustling the ‘nucks and tonight we play like a bunch of schoolgirls. Nobody hits anyone, no intimidation, nothing! A well deserved loss, great job guys! My 7 year old daughter asked me if this was the same team we saw the other night. I told her, “No, this is a bunch of scared little kids afraid to touch anybody.” Hopefully Wussy Claude will realize that we need to be mean to win and show up for the next game. Can’t believe the wussification that took place between games!
Thomas is keeping the Bruins in games. Now if only Claude could play Seguin more. Claude mixed it up too late when he inserted Seguin on the first line with only minutes left. Claude we need to score to win! Seguin has earned more ice time especially on the second power play unit, why Campbell is on the power play and Seguin is not only Claude will really know.
