Consistent message but different strategy for Bruins entering Game 7
VANCOUVER — Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, which will be played here at Rogers Arena tomorrow night, is not time for radical changes from what the Bruins have done most of the season to get this close to ultimate glory.
But that doesn’t mean there can’t be some alterations.
In this series so far, the home team has won every game. That means the Bruins are 0-3 in games played on the Canucks’ home ice. Head coach Claude Julien isn’t afraid to admit his team needs to do things differently in the last game of this series to expect a different result in the opposing building.
“I think we need to alter our game here, that’s what needs to be altered,” said Julien after his team skated off the six-hour flight today. “We’ve already started talking about what we need to do as soon as the game [Monday] was done. I think it was important to set the tone and the stage for Game 7, so we started doing that.
“We’ve talked about it and our guys realize what they didn’t do here well enough and what needs to be done and we’re going to be ready to put that on the ice tomorrow.”
As for the team’s attitude and composure when the puck drops on the biggest game of their lives tomorrow, Julien takes responsibility for what you’re going to see shortly after 8 p.m.
“I think it starts from the coach, starts from the coaches, and comes from upper management. Our general manager said the same thing all along, we’ve taken that approach to come in and make sure that there is an atmosphere in the dressing room of a variety of things: commitment, obviously there is also the focus, there is everything that needs to be done in a game, but there is also a good air in the dressing room that makes the guys enjoy being with each other and enjoying the moment,” said the coach.
“We just try to create that situation, and as you can see, everybody is in there with a smile. It doesn’t guarantee anything tomorrow, but the thing that we’re going to do is do the best we can so that we can have those permanent smiles on our faces.”

If I’m not mistaken, Marchand has broken the record for rookie goals in the playoffs. He’s not my favorite personality but his play has been impressive.
Here’s hoping it’s a close game tonight. Fans in both cities deserve this cup. Boston has been waiting 39 years, and have lost 2 or 3 finals in a row.
Vancouver has been waiting 40 years and have lost the finals twice.
If Boston wins, based on the play in this series, I’d say the better overall team has won. They were tight in their road games and downright dominant in their home games.
If Vancouver wins, the more skilled team will have won but their performance in the finals will still feel like a disappointment in some ways. I mean, based on how they CAN play, they could have swept this. But based on how they HAVE played, particularly in Boston, they could have BEEN swept by the Bruins.
Don’t want to hear that “WIN OR LOSE” mentality. Its WIN BABY WIN!!!!
3 close games in Vancity decided by 1 goal. This time its the Bruins turn to be on the winning side.
Attack, attack, attack & play smart hockey. Cover each others’ backs & you should do well.
It’s great to see this team have this chance. I really hope it goes their way. I know that as a fan they have already given me everything I was hoping for at the beginning of the year.
So yeah, shoot! And hope for one early hand-of-God type of goal to go in past Luongo to get things rolling.
Shoot
Boston Bruins 2011 – what a classy bunch of guys that hang together, play hard and play the game the right way. Totally deserving of a Cup, let’s hope it works out right.
The Bruins are a great team, they make the fans proud to support them. And I believe they have a great future too, regardless of how tonight turns out.
WE WANT THE CUP
This is a great Bruins team. Win or lose – these are a great bunch of guys and they have been a lot of fun to cheer for.
can’t blame you dude, I feel the same way
I could easily throw up 6 times today
Luongo(al) should bring a book to read on the bench during the 3rd period!
Bruins 4 Canucks 1
This is why we watch the game, boys! A LONG road with this team throughout the season; 82 regular season games and now a 25th playoff game to seal the deal. Win or lose tonight, this has been a tremendous ride but let’s not get things twisted… BRUINS WIN 4-2 on an empty netter! DO IT FOR HORTON
!
I have faith Claude Julien.
Watch for the shift of a lifetime out of Marchand to start the game.
GO BRUINS
I love his approach and attitude. I have a good feeling about tonight’s game.
Bruins need to put 35 shots on Luonogo and keep penalties down.
